HIGH CONTROL WHEEL FORCE IS NECESSARY TO START AILERON MOVEMENT IN TWO DIRECTIONS (Cont)

OK - Disconnect the aileron spring car-tridge in the wheel well. Turn the control wheel clockwise and counter-clockwise 12`. Make sure the friction of the control drum bearing is satis-factory. IF -

First Officer's control wheel bearings, gears, upper column bearings, or U-joints for friction (an indication of ratchet while you turn the control wheel). IF -gears out of adjustment is continuous OK - Do a check of the Captain's or 

OK - Disconnect the left body cables AA and AB at the aileron aft control quad-rant. Disconnect the aileron PCU con-trol rods and the autopilot actuator control rods. Unhook the centering springs from the centering mechanism roller arm. Turn the aileron aft con-trol quadrant by hand and check for friction in the trim and centering mechanism bearings. Also check the roller arm bearing. IF -

OK - Turn the aileron aft control quad-rant by hand and check for friction in the upper shaft bearings and pressure seal of the control quadrant shaft. IF -


NOT OK - Replace the U-joint bearings in the Captain's or First Officer's control column if there is high friction (AMM 27-31-51/401; 27-31-54/401).
NOT OK - Replace the aileron transfer mechanism (AMM 27-11-61/401).
NOT OK - Replace the bearings or adjust as it is necessary (AMM 27-11-41/401; 27-31-51/401; 27-31-54/401).
NOT OK - Replace the aileron trim and centering mechanism (AMM 27-11-81/401).

damage. IF -autopilot actuator control rod ends for control rod ends and linkages and the OK - Do a check of the aileron PCU 

valve (AMM 27-11-71/401). is unusual friction in the main control control valve. Replace the PCU if there OK - Do a check of the aileron PCU main 

NOT OK - Replace the bearings and the pressure seal if there is unusual friction (AMM 27-11-91/401).
NOT OK - Replace any parts that are worn, bent or broken (AMM 27-11-101/ 401).
