 3)  Make the left control rod set shorter and make the right control rod set longer.
To correct high right forces, do one of these steps to get the
 correct control rod change from Fig. 505:
 1)  Make the right control rod set shorter.
 2)  Make the left control rod set longer.
 3)  Make the right control rod set shorter and make the left control rod set longer.
Change the length of the control rod set:
 1)  Remove the bolts that attach the control rods to the
 aileron hinge fitting on the rear spar.
 2)  Remove the hinge bolts of the aileron balance tab.
 3)  Remove the aileron balance tab.
 4)  Remove the control rods.
 5)  Loosen the jamnuts on the control rod.
 NOTE:____ Be careful not to change the position of the rod end
 or rod barrel.
 6)  Turn the rod barrel to change the length of the control rod
 set.
 NOTE:____ Be careful to hold the rod and the rod end
 angularly.
 7)  Make sure that witness holes in barrel are covered.
 8)  Tighten the small jamnut to 100-140 pound-inches.
 9)  Tighten the large jamnut to 80-100 pound-inches.

 10) Install the lockwire on the jamnuts.
 11) Install the aileron balance tab.
 12) Install the control rods.
 13) Install the attach bolts for the tab rods with fingers only.
 14) Make sure there is free movement between the rod and the bolt and no deflection of rods.

 15) Adjust the length of the rod again if bolt and rod do not have free movement, or if rod deflection occurs.
 (j)  With the aileron indexes aligned, measure the distance between the tab trailing edge and the lower aileron surface.
 NOTE: The trailing edge of the aileron balance tab must move
____ in the direction that is necessary. To correct high left forces, the tab trailing edge must move down on the left aileron or up on the right aileron or a combination of the two. To correct the high right forces, the tab trailing edge must move down on the right aileron or up on the left aileron or a combination of the two.
 1) Put a straightedge or the aileron tab alignment protractor
 at the rod attach points. 2) Measure the distance. 3) Make a record of this dimension.

At the midspan of the tab, measure the distance between the trailing edge of the aileron balance tab and the aileron lower surface.

Make sure the aileron balance tab is 0.05 to 0.09 inch above the lower surface of the aileron.
