 DAMAGE TO THE CONTROL SURFACE.

 (a)  
Push up with a force of approximately 21 pounds (the spoiler panel weight of 16 pounds plus 5 pounds pull force) on the spoiler trailing edge directly opposite the power control actuator and within 0.5 inch of the trailing edge of the spoiler panel.

 (b)  
Measure the play on the inboard edge of the spoiler not more than 1/2 inch from the trailing edge.

 (c)  
Make sure the spoiler play is not more than 0.10 inch.

 (5)  
Do a check of the play of the spoilers No. 4 and 5 (aluminum/fiberglass):

 (a)  
Push up with a force of approximately 33 pounds (the spoiler panel weight of 28 pounds plus 5 pounds pull force) at the midpoint between the two power control actuators of the spoiler, and within 0.5 inch of the panel trailing edge of the spoiler.

 (b)  
Measure the play on the inboard edge of the spoiler not more than 1/2 inch from the trailing edge.

 (c)  
Make sure the spoiler play is not more than 0.20 inch.

 (6)  
Do a check of the play of the spoilers No. 4 and 5 (graphite/composite):

 (a)  
Push up with a force of approximately 32 pounds (the spoiler panel weight of 27 pounds plus 5 pounds pull force) at the midpoint between the two spoiler power control actuators, and within 0.5 inch of the spoiler panel trailing edge.

 (b) (c)  Measure the play on the inboard edge of the spoiler not more than 1/2 inch from the trailing edge.Make sure the spoiler play is not more than 0.20 inch.
 (7)  S 866-032Pressurize hydraulic system B (AMM 27-51-00/201) if it is depressurized.
 (8)  S 866-033Put the flap control lever to the FLAPS UP detent to retract the trailing edge flaps.
 (9)  S 866-034Release the pressure from hydraulic system B (AMM 27-51-00/201) if it is not needed.

 FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACE RIGGING TOOLS - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains information on how to use the flight control surface rigging tools. You usually use these rigging tools to identify the neutral position of the flight control surfaces. Adjustment procedures for the flight control surfaces are found in the applicable maintenance manual sections.

 2.  Aileron Tab Alignment Protractor Usage______________________________________
 A.  General
 (1)  
You can use the aileron tab alignment protractor (F80222-1) to identify the aileron tab neutral position and movement.

 (1)
Use the protractor to identify the aileron tab neutral position:

 (a)  
Make sure that the aileron aligns with the index mark on the wing (use a tolerance of +/- 0.03 inch).

 (b)  
Hold the protractor on the bottom side of the aileron, 0.5 inch away from the inboard end of the aileron tab (Fig. 201).

 (c)  
Move the protractor forward until the scale lightly touches the tab trailing edge.

 (d)  
Read the scale on the protractor to find the position of the aileron tab.

 (e)  
Do steps (a) thru (d) again at the middle point of the aileron tab, and 0.5 inches away from the outboard end of the aileron tab.
