(3) Install the transfer mechanism (Fig. 401):
NOTE: It is recommended if not already accomplished to have a
____ bearing support without pocket installed in the aileron transfer mechanism to prevent jamming of the first officer's control wheel (foreign object's collected in the pocket of the lower bearing support can cause jamming). Replacement the spoiler drum bearings and the lower drum in the aileron transfer control mechanism will also prevent binding at the spoiler lower cable drum and to prevent interference to the free turning of control wheel.
(a)
Install the cable guards (Fig. 401).
(b)
Install the screws, washers, and nuts.
(c)
Lubricate the cables ACBA and ACBB with grease.
(d)
Connect the cables ACBA and ACBB to the bus drum.
(e)
Put the ends of the cables ACBA and ACBB through the openings while you put the transfer mechanism in its position.
(f)
Install the bolts, washers and nuts.
(g)
Connect the cables ACBA, ACBB, AA, and AB to the correct turnbuckles.
(h)
Tighten the cable turnbuckles but keep the cable tension at zero.

Remove the rig pins A/S-1, A/S-3, and A/S-4.

Put the captains's and the first officer's control wheels in the neutral position.

Attach a straightedge across the top of the two aileron control wheels (Fig. 403).

Make sure that one end of the first officer's control wheel is not more than 0.20 inch from the straightedge.
