Procedure


 S 424-009
 (1)  
Install the aileron trim actuator (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Make sure that the rig pin A/S-15 is installed in the aileron trim actuator.

 (b)  
Attach the aileron trim actuator to the supporting structure with the bolt, washers, bushing and nut.

 (c)  Connect the actuator input rod to the centering spring mechanism with the bolt, washers, bushing and nut.
 (2)  S 434-012Connect the electrical connector to the aileron trim actuator.
 (3)  S 864-013Make sure the two control wheels are in the neutral position.
 (4)  S 094-014Remove the rig pins A/S-4 and A/S-15.
 (5)  S 864-015Do this task to pressurize hydraulic systems A and B: "Aileron Hydraulic Systems A and B Pressurization" (27-11-00/201).
 (6)  S 714-016Do a test on the operation of the aileron trim switches (AMM 27-11-00/501).
 NOTE:____ The wing trailing edge flaps are extended one to five units when you measure the movement of the control wheels.
 (a) (b)  Make sure the two control wheels are at the neutral (zero trim) position.At the same time, operate the two aileron trim switches in the LEFT WING DOWN direction until the trim actuator stops.
 NOTE:____ Make sure trim actuator operates correctly (stops when commanded and does not run-on). Two persons communicate during run-on check of trim actuator. One person in the wheel well instructs the person in the flight deck to apply trim input and when to stop. If the actuator does not stop when commanded, replace the actuator.
 (c)  Measure the movement of the captain's and the first officer's aileron control wheels from the neutral (zero trim) position: 1) If the aileron control wheels are not in the neutral position, move them to the neutral position.
 NOTE:____ Control wheel neutral position for maintenance purpose is determined by turning the control wheel left and right in decreasing amounts until the neutral position can be determined by feel.

 2)  Make sure the control wheels turn counterclockwise 60 |3 degrees (10 |1/2 trim indicator units) from the neutral position in 24 |1 seconds.
 NOTE: If it is necessary, apply a light finger pressure to
____ the control wheel while trimming the aileron to achieve the required 10 units deflection of control wheel. The light manual help for the control wheel to turn is to overcome possible friction in the input side of the control system which can be slightly greater than the force of the centering springs to hold the centering roller into the cam detent.
 (d) With the full LEFT WING DOWN trim input, do a check of the control wheel movement. 1) Manually turn the captain's aileron control wheel to 105 degrees counterclockwise. 2) Turn the captain's control wheel back to the neutral position. 3) Turn the captain's control wheel 75 degrees clockwise. 4) Make sure the captain's control wheel moves freely. 5) Measure the force necessary to hold the control wheel at
 the 75 degrees position.
 a) Make sure that the force is not more than 21 pounds at

 6.5 inches radius or 137 pound-inches torque. 6) Release the captain's control wheel.
 a)  Make sure that the control wheel goes back to 60 |3 degrees (10 |1/2 trim indicator units) counterclockwise.
