Remove the Aileron Tab Control Rods

Do this task to remove the two aileron access panels at hinge locations 2 and 3 on the lower wing surface adjacent to the leadingedge of the aileron: "Aileron Removal" (AMM 12-31-61/201,AMM 12-31-71/201 and AMM 27-11-11/401).
(2)
Remove the retaining bolts of the aft balance panel seal.
(3)
Remove the retaining strip.
(4)
Remove the hinge pin retainer bolt.
(5)
Remove the hinge pins from the aft balance panel.

Remove the aileron hinge access panel at the hinge location 2.

Remove the control rods (Fig. 401):
(a)
Lift up the aileron trailing edge.
(b)
Remove the two nuts, bolts, and washers that connect the control rods to the forward fittings.
(c)
Remove the three screws that attach the forward part of the tab fairing to the tab.
(d)
Remove the tab fairing.
(e)
Remove two nuts, bolts, and washers that connect the control rods to the tab mast.
(f)
Remove the hinge bolts of the aileron tab.
(g)
Remove the tab to be clear of the aileron.
(h)
Carefully remove the control rods from the aileron.

(8) Write down the lengths of the control rods.
