AILERON AND AILERON TRIM CONTROL SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
_________________________________________________________
1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains five tasks. The first task is the adjustment of the aileron and aileron trim control system. The second task is a system test of the aileron and aileron trim control system. The third task is the operational test of the aileron control wheel and control column. The fourth task is the functional test of the aileron transfer mechanism. The fifth task is the flight test to find and correct the flight control forces that are not symmetrical.
TASK 27-11-00-825-001
2. Aileron and Aileron Trim Control System Adjustment
__________________________________________________
A. General
_______
(1)
When you install new cables, the initial cable tension must be two times the applicable values shown in Fig. 501. After you operate the system 20 times, you must adjust the cable tension again to the correct values.
(2)
The aileron control wheels have a foil marker calibrated in units of the aileron trim. The foil markers are used by the flight crew only. Do not use the foil markers when you adjust or do a test of the aileron control system unless it is specified.
(3)
You must adjust the aileron trim control system before you do a check or adjust the aileron control system. The aileron trim control system is at the center when you can easily install or remove the rig pin A/S-15. To do this, operate the two trim switches at the same time (with electrical power on) or use the test box (without electrical power) to supply power to the trim actuator.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, TRAILING EDGE FLAPS, LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERVERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(4)
The aileron and aileron trim control systems are correctly adjusted with these conditions (Fig. 501):
(a)
Aileron Control Bus Cables ACBA and ACBB
1) With the rig pin A/S-1A installed, the straightedge is on the top ends of the captain's and the first officer's control wheels (Fig. 503).
NOTE: One end of the first officer's control wheel must
____ not be farther than 0.20 inch from the straightedge.
