 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS OR EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE
_______ LEADING EDGE FLAPS AND SLATS. THE LEADING EDGE CONTROL SURFACES WILL EXTEND. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE INBOARD FAN DUCT COWL AND THE THRUST
_______ REVERSERS ARE CLOSED OR COMPLETELY REMOVED BEFORE YOU EXTEND THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS. THERE IS NOT SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE FOR THE LEADING EDGE FLAPS TO EXTEND IF THE INBOARD FAN DUCT COWL AND THE THRUST REVERSER ARE IN THE OPEN (MAINTENANCE) POSITION. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ALTERNATE FLAP DRIVE UNIT IS LIMITED TO
_______ 4 MINUTES OPERATION AND 25 MINUTES OFF. FAILURE TO DO THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DRIVE UNIT.
 (d)  Set the ALTERNATE FLAPS position switch to DOWN.
 1)  Make sure that the leading edge flaps and slats operate satisfatory.

 (e)  
Set the ALTERNATE FLAPS position switch to UP.

 1)  Make sure that the leading edge flaps and slats operate satisfatory.

 (f)  
Set the ALTERNATE FLAPS arm switch to OFF. 1) Make sure that the leading edge flaps and slats fully

 retract. 2) Make sure that the trailing edge flaps fully retract.

 (g)  
Set the FLT CONTROL B switch to OFF.

 (h)  
Set the ALTERNATE FLAPS arm switch to ARM. 1) Make sure that the STANDBY HYD - LOW PRESSURE light comes

 on momentarily, then goes off. 2) Make sure that the flaps and slats do not extend.

 (i)  
Set the ALTERNATE FLAPS arm switch to OFF.

 (j)  
Set the FLT CONTROL B switch to ON.

 COMPENSATOR CARTRIDGE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General

 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of the compensator cartridge.
 B.  The compensator cartridge is a part of the flight controls modular package. The modular package for hyraulic system A is found in the left main wheel well. The modular package for hydraulic system B is found in the right main wheel well.

Do this task to depressurize hydraulic systems A and B: "Hydraulic System A, B or Standby Depressurization" (AMM 29-15-00/201).

Do this task to depressurize hydraulic system A and B reservoirs: "Hydraulic Reservoirs Depressurization" (AMM 29-09-00/201).

Procedure


 S 024-029
 (1)  
Remove the compensator cartridge (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Remove the compensator cartridge from the modular package.

 (b)  
Use a container to catch hydraulic fluid that drains from the compensator cartridge and the flight controls modular package.

 (c)  
Put a cover on the modular package housing to keep (unwanted) material out of the open port in the modular package housing.
