 (b)  Remove the protective boot.
 S 024-005
 (6)  
Disconnect the valve control rod from the valve lever (Fig. 401) (IPC 27-11-14-01, OHM 27-37-09):

 (a)  
Remove the cotter pin.

 (b)  
Remove the nut.

 (c)  
Remove the bolt.

 (d)  
Disengage the valve rod from the valve lever.

 (7)  
Disconnect the power control unit and the reaction link (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Remove the cotter pin.

 (b)  
Remove the two nuts.

 (c)  
Remove the attach bolt at the outboard end of the reaction link.

 (d)  
Remove the bolt that attaches the safety link to the reaction link.

 (e)  
Move the reaction link aft to get access to the power control unit.

 (f)  
Remove the cotter pin, nut, and bolt to disconnect the power control unit from the crank.

 (g)  
Remove the power control unit from the airplane.

 (h)  
Remove the fittings at the inlet and outlet ports.

 (i)  
Install the plugs in the ports.

Prepare for Installation
 S 434-009
 (1)  
Install the unions in the inlet and outlet ports on the power control unit.

 S 644-010

 (2)  
Lightly lubricate the O-rings with hydraulic fluid.

 S 864-027

 (3)  
Make sure the power control unit is filled with hydraulic fluid.

 S 434-011

 (4)
Put a cap on the unions to prevent leakage of hydraulic fluid.Install the Aileron Power Control Unit

 S 224-012

 (1)  
Do a visual check for wear on used bolts, bushings, bearings or other components. If it is necessary, do this task: Aileron Power Control Unit Linkage - Inspection/Check (AMM 27-11-14/601).

 S 424-013

 (2)  
Install the power control unit (Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Put the actuator in its position.

 (b)  
Install the bolt, washer and nut that attach the actuator housing to the crank.

 (c)  
Tighten the nut to 300-410 pound-inches.

 (d)  
Install the cotter pin.

 (e)  
Move the reaction link to put the actuator end rod between the fork end of the reaction link.

 (f)  
Install the bolt, washer and nut to attach the safety link to the reaction link.

 (g)  
Install the bolt, washers, and large nut.

 (h)  
Tighten the large nut to 300-350 pound-inches.

 (i)  
Install the small nut.

 (j)  
Tighten the small nut to 170-250 pound-inches.

 (k)  
Install the cotter pin.

 (3)  
Remove the plugs from the hydraulic hoses.
