R that the activating line select key will only cause
R the MCDU to display a different page (it is the
R call-up of a page). Its name is displayed beside the symbol.

R * If this symbol appears beside an LS key, it indicates that
R activating the key causes the activation of a function (it is
R the call-up of a function). The page displayed may also
R change as a result. If the DMU needs some time to react,
R during this time the asterix shall disappear to indicate to
R the user that the signal was registrated by the DMU. As long
R as the asterix is absent, the appropriate function can not be
R activated.

R If an arrow appears beside an LS key, it indicates
R that the operator can press the key to select
R data, without activating a function.
R
R CO DO This indicates that the user may enter data here (can
R be optional). Occasionally this data may be computed
R and entered by the computer as a result of another
R operator action.
R
R This indicates that the data are necessary for the user
R to input in order for the computer to perform the specific
R function.
R
R ----- This indicates that the data will be displayed by the
R computer when it has enough information to do so. The
R user does not normally enter this information.
R However, under certain circumstances he may be able
R to alter the data.
R
R Two vertical arrows (up or down) in columns 23 and 24
R of the scratchpad show that vertical slewing is avaiable.
R
R A horizontal arrow in column 24 of the title line show that
R horizontal slewing is available from this page.
R Activating the NEXT PAGE key will slew the page
R horizontally.

R (5) MCDU Vertical Slewing
R Certain pages in the computer contain more data than will fit on a
R single page (a page longer than the six pairs of lines available on
R the display).
R In these cases, data are arranged on a 'drum'. In these instances
R vertical slewing can be used to scroll the display up or down. Each
R press of a vertical slew key scrolls the MCDU display by one line
R pair, or by one block. A line pair is a line adjacent to an LS key
R and its label line. Holding the vertical slew key down scrolls the
