Valid entries for 'SYS' are '0', which means both systems, and '1' or '2' which mean system 1 or system 2 respectively. Valid entries for 'BITS' are 11 to 28. Valid entries for the INTEGER DIGITS are 1 to 6. For the FRACTION DIGITS the valid entries are also 1 to 6 but the sum of the two must not exceed 6. For the SIGN either 'Y' for yes or 'N' for no are valid. The example in the AIDS Alpha Programming of the call-up of fuel temperature (no.5A.1.201.01) means that the LSB will be 18. Also that 11 bits (bit 18 to 28) will be taken into account. The EUC factor will be
0.25. Three integer digits and the sign will be presented. This parameter will appear in a print out or on the screen when called up by the alpha call up procedure. If an Alpha call-up exists (that includes those already entered in the present programming session), the DMU will display all associated information for that alpha in the display area. The user may change definition of the alpha at the display/print format by changing the information displayed. The EUC of a fixed alpha is only modifiable if the EUC is just a linear characteristic. Otherwise, EUC modification is not allowed for fixed alphas. No other options will be active until the operator enters an alpha call-up (no asterix appear next to the other entry spaces).
Alpha call-ups may be deleted (excluding the preprogrammed alpha call-ups) by applying the CLR function to the alpha entry space. This is when an existing call-up is being displayed. If this is done, the DMU will delete the alpha call-up from memory. This function will not work for the 200 fixed ACUs but only for the additional programmed ones. Once all entries are verified, the DMU will proceed to check if the modified alpha is in the temporary storage buffer. If it is, the data will be immediately modified there and the old entry will be eliminated. If not, the DMU will see if the addition of the new call-up does not exceed the 1500 alpha call-up limit (the 1500 does not include the nonprogrammable alphas). If the alpha call-up exceeds this limit the DMU will display the message 'NO SPACE AVAILABLE' on the scratchpad line and will not store the parameter in the temporary storage buffer. If the new call-up does not exceed this limit, the DMU will store the parameter, then display/print format, specified with the associated alpha code, in a temporary buffer. Once the operator activates the RETURN option, the DMU will permanently store all information. Access level 2 shall be required to program alpha call-ups. All programmed alpha call-ups and associated information shall be stored in the RPMB.

 (c) Programming Parameter Call-Ups (Ref. Fig. 052) Additional parameters which are not described in the standard parameter list, can be displayed only by parameter label call-up. If the operator wants to use those parameters for further programming, he is to use the procedure described as follows:
 -
select 'CALL UP>' on the AIDS DMU Programming Menu,

 -
select '<PARAMETER CALL-UPS' on the AIDS Call Up Modify Menu,

-the AIDS Parameter Programming Page comes on.
-modify or program the Parameter Call-Ups via scratchpad and by activating the 2L key.
The operator must enter the data to define the desired Parameter Call Up to be programmed. If the Parameter call-up entered already exists, the DMU will do nothing. If it doesn't, the DMU will check that the 256 parameter limit per DITS channel is not exceeded. If this limit is exceeded, the DMU will display on the scratchpad line the message 'NO SPACE AVAILABLE'. If the limit is no exceeded, the new parameter will be stored. E.g. if parameter (5A.1.177.01) is to be programmed, the operator must enter '5A.1.177.01, via scratchpad and by activating 2L. Parameters may be deleted (excluding the preprogrammed parameter) by applying the CLR function to the parameter entry space after an existing parameter is being displayed. If this is done, the DMU shall delete the parameter from memory. Access level 2 is required to programm parameter call-ups. All parameter call-ups will be programmed in the DMU RPMB.
 (d) Programming LRU Assignments (Ref. Fig. 053) If additional buses which are not described in this document are connected to the DMU later on, then parameters on those buses shall be used for call-ups or programmable logics. They must be programmed via the MCDU. The procedure is as follows:
 -
select 'CALL UP>' on the AIDS DMU Programming Menu,

 -
select '<LRU ASSIGNMENTS' on the AIDS Call Up Modify Menu,

-the AIDS LRU Assignment Page comes on.
