 A. Energization In normal operation the aircraft integrated data system operates automatically in normal mode at the Power-on condition. The DMU is supplied directly from busbar 202XP (115VAC). The DAR (optional) is supplied from busbar 204PP (28VDC).
 B. Control and Indication via MCDU The communication with the aircraft systems by the user is performed with a Multipurpose Control Display Unit (MCDU) according to ARINC-739. Operating the DMU is simplified by an interactive, menu controlled user interface.

 C. Remote Print Button
 (1)
 Remote Print Button Function A remote print button function causes generation of specified print reports as a function of flight phase. The 'trigger' is reprogrammable via the GSE. The definition about which print report in which flight phase has to be generated, is defined in the respective report trigger logic.

 Remote Print Button Installation The print button is installed on the pedestal assy on panel 112VU in the cockpit.


 D. MCDU Functions and Rules
 (Ref. Fig. 012)
 Some of the AIDS functions are controlled by the MCDU.
 The MCDU display has 14 lines, each line has 24 characters. Line 1 is
 used as a title line or to show data to which the operator does not have
 access. Line 14 is used as a scratchpad line for entering data into the
 system.
 Lines 2 through 13 are data lines arranged into six pairs (lines 2-3,
 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13). Each pair of lines has a label line and a
 data line. The data lines are adjacent to the Line Select Keys (LSK), and
 the label line is above the data line.
 The line pairs are referenced by LSKs as shown below and in the menu
 figures:

 The LSKs allow entry of data into a field and access to a data or a function identified by that field.
 (1) MCDU Keys The keyboard has the following alphanumeric keys: Activating an alphanumeric key (0 through 9, A through Z, ., +, -, . and / ) enters that character into the scratchpad of the MCDU.

 Function keys
 'NEXT PAGE'  = shows the next page or to a option
 'ARROW up'  = scrolls the displayed page up
 'ARROW down'  = scrolls the displayed page down
 'CLR'  = clears the scratchpad and data
 fields.
 ' . OVFY'  = enters a . into the scratchpad (not used
 for AIDS).

 There are three annunciators on the MCDU front panel:
 'MCDU MENU' : This annunciator illuminates white when a system

 linked to the MCDU requests the display. 'FAIL' : Not used for AIDS 'FMGC' : Not used for AIDS
 (2) General Display Rules No-valid and Missing Data For all display fields, only valid data is displayed. If the data is not valid or "xxxx", the display field shows dashes (---). When a new page is accessed, or data are entered, it may require the computer to perform calculations before all the data to be displayed are available. In these cases, the screen is cleared. Then the portion of the display that is available and can be displayed is presented to the operator immediately. However, the data fields that are not available would be left as dashes and filled in as the data become available.
 Small and Large Front Panels The MCDU has two sizes of front panel. Generally all data on the data line are displayed on a large front panel. But data on the label line are displayed on a small front panel. However, the following are exceptions:
 -Data with default values (or computer calculated values) which could be changed by the operator are displayed on a small front panel.
 -If two data entries are dependent upon each other, the independent data (those defaulted to or latest input by the operator) are displayed on a large front panel and the dependent data are on a small front panel.
 -For additional exceptions for AIDS which ensure more clarification in several menus.

 (3) MCDU Special Symbols There are special symbols on MCDU displays that indicate certain functions to the operator. Certain symbols show the operator what is available or if there is more information than is already displayed. The following symbols are used in the displays:
