Download of AIDS reports, which are stored in the FDIMU internal solid state memory
-
Upload of the FDIMU system software
-
Upload of the setup data base from and to the PDL or MDDU.
N. ACARS Functions The FDIMU is able to manage different functions to send data via ACARS to the ground (Downlink) or to receive data via ACARS from the ground (Uplink). These functions are:

L. AGS Functions The Application Ground Station (AGS) for the DMU is based upon a IBM-PC compatible computer with the operational software MS-DOS release 3.3, or later. The AGS computer is able to read 3.5 inch double-side high density magnetic disks providing a format of at least 1.44 MBytes. The DMU vendor is supply appropriate DMU application software for the AGS. For use the software named AMTAL (Aircraft Monitoring and Action Language) see the detailed description from the vendor. If related functions are programmed via the AGS the configuration file must copied from the AGS into the DMU via a Portable Data Loader PDL. The software AMTAL is able to:
-
Programmable the secondary processor board (CPU-2)
-
Programmable AI Reports
-
Programmable MCDU Menu function's
-
Programmable the RMPB's
-
Retrieval of compressed SAR data files
-
Retrieval of stored AIDS Reports
M. PDL/MDDU Function The DMU is designed to interface to a Multipurpose Disk Drive Unit (MDDU). This Unit is compatible to a Airborn Computed High Speed Data Loader according to ARINC 615. The MDDU can be provided either by an Airborm Data Loader (ADL) or a Portable Data Loader (PDL). A discrete signal (PDL ENABLE) is indicate to the DMU, that the PDL is available for the DMU. Each time the plug from the PDL is connected to
R 1EFF : 106-149, 151-199, 201-299, 301-399, 1 31-36-00Page A8 1401-499, 1Config-2 Aug 01/05 1 1 1CES 1 the DMU, the 'PDL ENABLE' pin is tied to ground. This will indicate to the DMU that a communication for up- and download from the PDL is possible. It is possible to connect a PDL directly to the DMU via the test connector. A discrete signal (MDDU SEL) when swithed to the ground is indicate to the DMU that the MDDU is available for the DMU. The MDDU or PDL perform the following tasks, if the 'MDDU SEL' or 'PDL ENABLE' is tied to ground:
-Upload of DMU application software generated with the AGS for advanced programming functions on the additional processor board (CPU-2).
