3. Stall Management Yaw Damper (SMYD) BITE Test - Existing Faults
(Figure 502)
A. General
(1) This procedure does the EXISTING FAULTS portion of the Stall Management Yaw Damper
(SMYD) BITE.
(2) Do this BITE test for SMYD 1 and 2 to ensure all faults are found.
(3) For EXISTING FAULTS, the SMYD does internal tests, discrete output checks, sensor interface
checks, and checks of inputs to the SMYD. Any faults that are found during the EXISTING
FAULTS are active. A maintenance message identifies a specific failure which is found by the
SMYD.

(3) Do the EXISTING FAULTS test on the SMYD BITE:
(a) Push the ON/OFF switch.
NOTE: The display will show EXISTING FAULTS? If a fault occurs, check to make sure
that all FMC and ADIRU values are good.
(b) Push the YES switch. The display will show:
1) Either a message corresponding the first fault in the list.
2) Or the display will show NO FAULTS.
(c) If there are existing faults, then, do this task: FIM 27-32 TASK 801
(d) If the display shows NO FAULTS, push the MENU switch to return to the EXISTING
FAULTS? display.

4. Stall Management Yaw Damper (SMYD) BITE Test - Fault History
(Figure 502)
A. General
(1) This procedure does the FAULT HISTORY? portion of the Stall Management Yaw Damper
(SMYD) BITE.
(2) The SMYD keeps a record of faults in FAULT HISTORY. The faults are grouped by flight leg.
Flight leg 0 (LEG 0) is the most recent flight and includes faults that occurred on the ground after
the most recent flight. Only flight legs with faults will be displayed.
