(1) Set the main cutout switch, S272 on the control stand to the CUTOUT position.

SUBTASK 27-41-00-710-003
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE
HORIZONTAL STABILIZERS. THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER WILL MOVE WHEN YOU
TURN THE CONTROL TRIM WHEELS. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND
DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do the friction test of the horizontal stabilizer trim control:
(a) Turn the captain’s control trim wheel counterclockwise (full APL NOSE DOWN) until it
touches the stops.
(b) Turn the captain’s control trim wheel clockwise (full APL NOSE UP) until it touches the
stops.
1) Make sure the force necessary to operate the control trim wheel is not more than 62 inlb
(7.0 Nm) or not less than 22 in-lb (2.5 Nm).
2) Make sure the system operates smoothly.
(c) Turn the control trim wheel counterclockwise (full APL NOSE DOWN) until it touches the
stops.
1) Make sure the force necessary to operate the control trim wheel is not more than 62 inlb
(7.0 Nm) or not less than 22 in-lb (2.5 Nm).
2) Make sure the system operates smoothly.

MOVE THE CONTROL WHEELS. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND

(1) Do the test of the electrical trim system test:
(a) Set the flaps to any position from 1-40 units.
1) Push and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE
DOWN position.
a) Make sure the stabilizer leading edge moves up.
b) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
2) Push and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE UP
position.
a) Make sure the stabilizer leading edge moves down.
b) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
3) Push and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the first officer’s control wheel to the NOSE
DOWN position.
a) Make sure the stabilizer leading edge moves up.
b) Release the STAB TRIM switches.
4) Push and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the first officer’s control wheel to the NOSE
