SUBTASK 27-32-31-420-001
(1) Attach the shaker [1] to the strap on the control column with the bolts [5], nuts [4], shims [3], and
spacers [2].

(2) Tighten the bolts to 20-25 pound-inches.

(3) Add or remove shims as necessary between the shaker [1] and strap to get a snug fit.

D. Shaker Installation Test
SUBTASK 27-32-31-710-001
(1) Do a post-installation check of the shaker.
(a) Push and hold the STALL WARNING TEST NO. 1 switch (for the captain’s shaker) or NO. 2
switch (for the first officer’s shaker) on the P5 panel.
(b) Make sure the applicable shaker operates.
(c) Release the switch.
(d) Make sure that the shaker [1] stops.

STALL MANAGEMENT YAW DAMPER (SMYD) - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) Removal of the stall management yaw damper.
(2) Installation of the stall management yaw damper.

E. SMYD Removal
SUBTASK 27-32-42-910-001
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE SMYD BEFORE YOU DO THE PROCEDURE FOR DEVICES THAT
ARE SENSITIVE TO ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE
CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SMYD.
(1) Do the necessary steps to protect the SMYD from electrostatic discharge. To do this, do this task:
ESDS Handling for Metal Encased Unit Removal, TASK 20-40-12-000-802.

(2) Loosen the SMYD hold down knob.
NOTE: Refer to (E/E Box Removal, TASK 20-10-07-000-801) for further details on the E/E box
removal.
SUBTASK 27-32-42-020-002
(3) Carefully move the SYMD [1] out from the tray and remove the SYMD [1].
NOTE: Move the front of the SMYD from side to side approximately 1/8 inch to help disconnect
the SMYD from the electrical connector.

CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH THE CONDUCTOR PINS OR OTHER CONDUCTORS ON THE SMYD. IF
YOU TOUCH THESE CONDUCTORS, ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE CAN CAUSE
DAMAGE TO THE SMYD.
(4) Install protective covers on the SMYD connectors. To do this, do this task: Conductive Dust Cap
and Connector Cover Installation, TASK 20-40-12-000-803.
