SUBTASK 27-31-91-640-001
(1) Do these steps to replace the bearings of the neutral shift mechanism [1]:
(a) Remove the outer housing bearing [15] from the short end of the neutral shift mechanism
[1].

(b) Remove the bearing [16] from the short end of the neutral shift mechanism [1].
(c) Remove the outer housing bearing [14] from the long end of the neutral shift mechanism
[1].
(d) Remove the nut [21], washer [20], washer [19], and bolt [18] from the long end of the neutral
shift mechanism [1].
(e) Remove the bearing retainer [22] and bearing [16] from the neutral shift mechanism [1].
(f) Apply sealant, A00247 between each new bearing, their bearing housings and bearing
retainer.
(g) Install the bearings [16], bearing housing [14], bearing housing [15], and bearing retainer
[22] back on the neutral shift mechanism [1].
(h) Turn the bearing retainer [22] until you can install the bolt [18], washer [19] (under the bolt
head), washer [20] (under the nut), and the nut [21].
SUBTASK 27-31-91-420-001
(2) Install the neutral shift mechanism [1]:
(a) Put the neutral shift mechanism [1] between the support brackets.
1) Align the neutral shift mechanism [1] with the mach trim actuator.
