SUBTASK 27-31-00-860-092
(6) Use the bar, SPL-1677 to set the "B" dimension at 4 units of trim (39.89 +/- 0.01 inches or 1013.2
+/- 0.3 mm) (Figure 502).
G. Feel Force System Test
(Figure 515)
SUBTASK 27-31-00-730-012
(1) Do the feel force system test:
CAUTION: DO NOT INCREASE THE PRESSURE TO MORE THAN 6 PSIG (474 KNOTS KCAS)
DURING THE TEST. IF THE PRESSURE IS MORE THAN 6 PSIG (41.4 KPA), IT CAN
CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELEVATOR FEEL COMPUTER.
(a) Operate the regulator, SPL-1742 or air data model test set, COM-1914 to increase the
pressure to 0.77 - 0.87 psig (5.3 - 6.0 kPa) (185 knots).
(b) Apply masking tape on the tail cone along direction of the travel of the elevator trailing
edge.
NOTE: You can use the elevator travel measuring tool as an alternative to the masking
tape.
(c) Move the captain’s control column lightly to put the system in the neutral position, then
release.
1) Make a mark of the neutral position of the elevator trailing edge on the masking tape.
(d) Move the captain’s control column slowly aft until the elevator trailing edge is at 1.15 - 1.25
inches (29.2 - 31.7 mm) from the neutral position, and hold (Figure 523).
1) Use the force gauge, COM-1557 to make sure the force required to keep the control
column at this position is 17 - 28 pounds (76 - 125 newtons).
(e) Move the captain’s control column slowly aft until the elevator trailing edge is at 4.75 - 4.85
inches (120.6 - 123.2 mm) from the neutral position, and hold (Figure 523).
1) Use the force gauge, COM-1557 to make sure the force required to keep the control
column at this position is 36 - 45 pounds (160 - 200 newtons).
(f) Move the captain’s control column slowly forward until the elevator trailing edge is at 1.15 -
1.25 inches (29.2 - 31.7 mm) from the neutral position, and hold (Figure 523).
1) Use the force gauge, COM-1557 to make sure the force required to keep the control
column at this position is 17.0 - 27.5 pounds (75.6 - 122.3 newtons).
(g) Move the captain’s control column slowly forward until the elevator trailing edge is at 4.75 -
4.85 inches (120.6 - 123.2 mm) from the neutral position, and hold (Figure 523).
1) Use the force gauge, COM-1557 to make sure the force required to keep the control
column at this position is 44 - 53 pounds (196 - 236 newtons).
