(5) Install the rig pin E-5 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the aft control quadrant (Figure 401).
F. Elevator Balance Panel Removal
(Figure 402)
SUBTASK 27-31-41-020-001
(1) Remove the balance panel [10] (bays 2, 3, and 4):
(a) Remove the bulb seals [17] from the airplane.
(b) Remove the washers [14] and bolts [13] that attach the balance panel [10] to the idler hinge
[18].
(c) Remove the washers [11] and bolts [12] that attach the balance panel [10] to the elevator
[6].
(d) Remove the balance panel [10] from the airplane.
SUBTASK 27-31-41-020-004
(2) Remove the idler hinge [18] (bays 2, 3, and 4):
(a) Remove the washers [8] and bolts [7] that attach the flat seals [5] to the idler hinge [18].
(b) Remove the flat seals [5] from the airplane.
(c) Remove the washers [4] and bolts [3] that attach the hinge half [2] to the balance panel
support [1].
(d) Remove the idler hinge [18] and the idler hinge seal [19] from the airplane.
