(4) Install the rig pin E-5 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the elevator aft quadrant (Figure 401).

(5) Install the rig pin E-1 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the left forward quadrant (Figure 402).

(6) Remove the applicable control column. To remove it, do this task: Control Column - Removal,

F. Support Bearing Removal

(1) Turn the cable turnbuckles [1] to release the tension in the elevator control cables.
NOTE: Do not disconnect the cable turnbuckles.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL A SUPPORT FOR THE FORWARD QUADRANT ASSEMBLY
BEFORE AND AFTER YOU REMOVE THE COUPLINGS. IF YOU DO NOT HOLD THE
FORWARD QUADRANT ASSEMBLY CORRECTLY, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO
EQUIPMENT.
(2) Install the set, SPL-1747 to support the forward quadrant assembly.

(3) Remove the nuts [5], washers [4], and bolts [3] from the inboard couplings [6].

(4) Remove the forward quadrant connector [11].

(5) Remove the bearing housing [15]:
(a) Remove the nuts [7], washers [9], upper bolts [10] from the bearing housing [15].
(b) Remove the nuts [17], washers [16], washers [14], and lower bolts [13] from the bearing
housing [15].
(c) Remove the bearing housing [15] and shim [8] from the airplane.

(6) Remove the bearing [12] from the bearing housing [15]:
(a) Turn the bearing [12] at the right angles to the bearing housing [15].
