SUBTASK 27-41-00-710-001
(1) Adjust the tension of the cable STA and cable STB:
(a) If you installed new cables, then do these steps to stretch the cables:
NOTE: If you are adjusting the tension on existing cables (cables that were already on
the aircraft), you do not need to do these steps. Go to the steps to adjust the cable
STA and cable STB to their correct rigging tension.
1) Adjust the lower turnbuckle [9] to get the cable tension of 350 ±50 lbf (1557 ±223 N).
a) Operate the stabilizer system through a full cycle.
NOTE: You will need to use the control wheel switches to move the stabilizer
since the stab trim control wheel chain has been disconnected.
b) Put the cables at the center of the forward cable drum.
c) Tighten the lower turnbuckle [9].
d) Use the 40 - 600 lb cable tensiometer, COM-1554 or 40 - 600 lb cable tensiometer,
COM-1554 to make sure the cable tension is at 350 ±50 lbf (1557 ±223 N).
e) Operate the stabilizer system through a full cycle.
f) Put the cables at the center of the forward cable drum.
g) Make sure the cable tension stays at 350 ±50 lbf (1557 ±223 N).
h) Operate the stabilizer system through 5 full cycles.
i) Make sure the cable tension stays at 350 ±50 lbf (1557 ±223 N).
(b) Do these steps to adjust cable STA and cable STB to the correct rigging tension:
1) Operate the stabilizer system through a full cycle.
NOTE: You will need to use the control wheel switches to move the stabilizer since
the stab trim control wheel chain has been disconnected.
2) Put the cables at the center of the forward cable drum.
3) Adjust the lower turnbuckle [9] to get the cable rigging tension as shown in the table
below (Table 501):
