ELEVATOR TAB CONTROL MECHANISM - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the elevator tab control mechanism
(2) An installation of the elevator tab control mechanism
(3) A removal of the tab pushrod
(4) An installation of the tab pushrod.
(5) A removal of the elevator tab lock actuator.
(6) An installation of the elevator tab lock actuator.
B. The elevator tab control mechanism is referred to as the "tab mechanism" in this procedure.
C. The tab mechanism includes the crank assembly and two tab pushrods.
D. This procedure is applicable to the left and right tab mechanism.

(1) Remove pressure from the elevator hydraulic systems A and B. To remove it, do this task:
Remove Pressure from the Elevator Hydraulic Systems A and B, TASK 27-31-00-800-802.

(2) Measure and record the elevator tab position in relation to the elevator.
NOTE: This will make it easier to adjust the tab after installing the mechanism.

(3) To get access to the aft control quadrant, do this task:

E. Elevator Tab Control Mechanism Removal

(1) Disconnect hydraulic line [31] from the tab mechanism [32].

(2) Disconnect the electrical line [30] from the tab mechanism [32].

(3) Remove the tab mechanism [32]:
(a) Remove the screws [48] from the pin retainer [49].
(b) Remove the nuts [52], washers [51], bushings [50], and pin assembly [40] that attach the tab
mechanism [32] to the elevator [21].
(c) Remove the nuts [47], washers [46], and bolts [41] from the tab mechanism [32] and tab
pushrods [29].
(d) Remove the nut [45], washer [44], washer [43], and pin assembly [42] that attach the tab
mechanism [32] to the elevator [21].
(e) Remove the nuts [37], washers [36], nuts [35], washers [34], bushings [38], and bolts [39]
that attach the tab mechanism [32] to the horizontal stabilizer [33].
(f) Remove the tab mechanism [32] from the airplane.

(4) Remove the tab mechanism [32]:
(a) Remove the screws [48] from the pin retainers [49] rotate the pin retainer [49] arms up.
(b) Remove the nuts [52], washers [51], and pin assembly [40] that attach the tab mechanism
[32] to the elevator [21].
(c) Remove the nuts [47], washers [46], spacers [53], and bolts [41] that attach the tab
pushrods [29] to the tab mechanism [32].
