SUBTASK 27-31-61-020-002
(1) Turn the cable turnbuckles to release the tension in the cables EA [2] and cables EB [3].
NOTE: Do not disconnect the cable turnbuckles.
(a) If it is necessary, install control cable clamp, SPL-1569 on the cables EA [2] and cables EB
[3].

(2) Remove the cables EA [2] and cables EB [3] from the forward quadrant assembly [1]:
(a) Remove the screws [10] and retainers [4] from the cables EA [2] and cables EB [3].
(b) Put identification tags on the cables.
(c) Remove the bolts [6], washers [7], and nuts [8] that attach the fairleads [9] to the forward
quadrant assembly [1].

(3) Remove the bolts [11] and washers [12] that attach the mass balance weight [5] to the forward
quadrant assembly [1].

(4) Remove the ring assemblies and dust seals from the control columns [15]:
(a) Remove the screws [22] and washers [23] from the forward ring assemblies [21] and aft
ring assemblies [23].
(b) Remove the forward ring assemblies [21] and aft ring assemblies [24].
(c) Remove the aft dust seals [25] and forward dust seals [26].

(5) Remove the rig pin E-1 from the left side of forward quadrant assembly [1].

CAUTION: HOLD THE CONTROL COLUMNS AND THE FORWARD QUADRANT ASSEMBLY WHEN
YOU REMOVE THEM. THEY CAN FALL AND CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(6) Remove the forward quadrant assembly [1]:
(a) Remove the nuts [18], washers [17], and bolts [13] from the inboard couplings [16].
(b) Remove the inboard couplings [16].
(c) Move the control columns [15] outboard until you can disengage the forward quadrant
connectors [14] from the forward quadrant assembly [1].
NOTE: Use a marker or a pen to make marks on the forward quadrant connector [14] and
the forward quadrant assembly [1] to help align the control column during the
forward quadrant assembly [1] installation.
(d) Remove the forward quadrant assembly [1].
