1) Verify that the left elevator is within 0.12 in. (3.0 mm) of the initial left elevator position.
NOTE: The initial left elevator position is the position, ‘‘Z’’, measured before the
removal of the stabilizer.
2) Verify that the right elevator is within 0.12 in. (3.0 mm) of the initial right elevator
position.
NOTE: The initial right elevator position is the position, ‘‘Z’’, measured before the
removal of the stabilizer.
3) Verify that the left elevator is within 0.12 in. (3.0 mm) of the right elevator position.
NOTE: This measurement compares the left and right stabilizer half positions after
the installation of both sides of the stabilizer. It assures that the left and right
elevators are within 0.12 in. (3.0 mm) of their original positions. The 0.12 in.
(3.0 mm) difference is calculated to have a negligible effect on manual
reversion.
(g) If the measurements in the above step are not within limits, the elevator system should be
adjusted and test flown for manual reversion.
NOTE: You cannot adjust the elevator control pushrod to assure that the elevator is
within the limits. Adjustment of the elevator control pushrod is too coarse to
achieve the minimum tolerance of 0.12 in. (3.0 mm). One half turn of the elevator
control pushrod moves the trailing edge of the elevator up or down 0.20 in.
(5.1 mm).

(18) Do the following system tests (if necessary):
NOTE: If the tailcone has not been removed and the same stabilizer, elevator, and/or elevator
tab has been re-installed (without elevator or elevator tab rework or adjustment) and
the elevator position ‘‘Z’’ measurements (performed previously in this procedure) are
within the specified limits, a flight test is not necessary.
If the tailcone has been removed, or either the stabilizer, elevator, and/or elevator tab
have been replaced, (with elevator or elevator tab adjustment), a flight test is required.
If the tailcone was not removed or adjusted, or the same stabilizer, elevator, or elevator
tab was re-installed (without elevator tab rework or adjustment), but the elevator
position ‘‘Z’’ measurements (performed previously in this procedure) are NOT within the
specified limits, a flight test is required.
(a) Do this task: Elevator Travel Limit - Test, TASK 27-31-00-700-804.
(b) Verify that the elevator pushrods are properly adjusted. Do this task: Elevator Control
Pushrods - Adjustment, TASK 27-31-00-820-802.
NOTE: If the elevator pushrods are adjusted, a flight test is required.
(c) Do this task: Elevator Tab Control System - Operational Test, TASK 27-31-00-700-815.
(d) Use the stabilizer trim wheel to make sure that the horizontal stabilizer operates through
full travel between the stops.
(e) Do this task: Elevator Position Transmitter Installation Test, TASK 31-31-51-700-801.
(f) To test the logo lights (if installed), do the test portion of the following task:
(TASK 33-49-00-960-802).
(g) If necessary, do this task: Elevator Power-Off Flight - Test, TASK 27-31-00-710-803.
