(g) Remove the tape.
(h) Set the FLT CONTROL A switch on the forward overhead panel, P5, to the ON position.
(i) Set the FLT CONTROL B switch on the forward overhead panel, P5, to the OFF position.
(j) Put a piece of tape over the left elevator index plate [1].
(k) Use a block, STD-1278 and force gauge, COM-1557 to apply a force of 15 +/- 1 pounds (67
+/- 4 newtons) to left elevator trailing edge in the down direction and release slowly.
NOTE: Apply the force approximately 0.5 inch (13 millimeters) forward of the trailing
edge and 1 inch (25 millimeters) outboard of the inboard edge of the elevator (next
to the tailcone).
1) Make a mark of the left elevator position on the tape after you remove the force.
NOTE: Mark the position of the elevator after the force is removed from the elevator.
(l) Use a block, STD-1278 and force gauge, COM-1557 to apply a force of 10 +/- 1 pounds (45
+/- 4 newtons) to left elevator trailing edge in the up direction.
NOTE: Apply the force approximately 0.5 inch (13 millimeters) forward of the elevator
trailing edge and 1 inch (25 millimeters) outboard of the inboard edge of the
elevator (next to the tailcone).
1) Make a mark of the left elevator position on the tape before you remove the force.
2) Slowly remove the force.
(m) Make sure the distance between the up and down position of the left elevator is not greater
than 0.210 inch (5.32 millimeters).
(n) Remove the tape.
(o) Set the FLT CONTROL B switch on the forward overhead panel, P5, to the ON position.
H. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition.
