6. Stabilizer Trim Wheel Free Movement Test
A. General
(1) Use this test to check the freeplay between the horizontal stabilizer trim motor and the
ballscrew.

(1) Do this task: Supply Electrical Power, TASK 24-22-00-860-811.

E. Procedure
SUBTASK 27-41-00-710-005
(1) Do the test of the stabilizer trim wheel free movement:
(a) Set the flaps to the 5-unit position.
1) Move and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE UP
position until the system comes to full trim speed.
a) Release the STAB TRIM switches. Make sure the stabilizer trim wheel continues to
move not more than 2.5 turns (900 degrees).
b) Make sure the reverse travel (APL NOSE DOWN) is not more than 27 degrees.
2) Move and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE
DOWN position until the system comes to full trim speed.
a) Release the STAB TRIM switches. Make sure the stabilizer trim wheel continues to
move not more than 2.5 turns (900 degrees).
b) Make sure the reverse travel (APL NOSE UP) is not more than 100 degrees.
(b) Set the flaps to the full up position.
1) Push and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE
DOWN position until the system comes to full trim speed.
a) Release the STAB TRIM switches. Make sure the stabilizer trim wheel continues to
move not more than 0.5 turns (180 degrees).
b) Make sure the reverse travel (APL NOSE UP) is not more than 65 degrees.
2) Push and hold the STAB TRIM switches on the captain’s control wheel to the NOSE UP
position until the system comes to full trim speed.
a) Release the STAB TRIM switches. Make sure the stabilizer trim wheel continues to
move not more than 0.5 turns (180 degrees).
b) Make sure the reverse travel (APL NOSE DOWN) is not more than 65 degrees.

7. Stabilizer Trim Limit Switches Test
(Figure 504)
A. General
(1) Use this test to make sure the stabilizer trim limit switches operate correctly.
(2) The trim system can move the stabilizer to a position more than the limits that were set during
the adjustment of the limit switches. This condition is usual. Thus the "B" dimension tolerances
for the test are larger than the tolerance for the adjustment.
(3) This test is applicable only for limit switches S145, S844, S144.
