a) On the aft support links [7], measure from the center of the aft support bolts to the
threaded stud on the left and right aft support links [7].
b) On the forward support link [1], measure from the center of the mounting bolt to the
center of the bolt through the lower end of the eyebolt.
c) Make sure that the lengths of the three "A" dimensions are in ±0.06 inch (±1.5
mm) of each other (Figure 501) (View A).

(3) Connect the flexible shaft [8] to the forward mechanism.
(a) Use the bar, SPL-1677 to set the "B" dimension to the 39.89 ±0.03 in. (1013.2 ±0.8 mm)
(Figure 501).
(b) Turn the flexible shaft [8] until the stabilizer position indicator is at 4 units of trim
(Figure 501).
(c) Connect the flexible shaft [8] to the forward mechanism.

(4) Install the upper turnbuckle [2] to the forward mechanism.
(a) Adjust the upper turnbuckle [2] until you can install the bolt [3] freely through the rod end at
the forward mechanism.
(b) Install the washer [4], washer [5], and nut [6] to the bolt [3].

(5) Operate the stabilizer system to the NOSE UP stop (stabilizer leading edge moves down) and do
a check for the conditions that follow:
(a) The clearance between the cables and cable guard is not less than 0.25 in. (6.4 mm)
(Figure 501) (View D).
NOTE: The cable guard is installed at station 237 in the bulkhead.
1) Adjust the cable guard, if it is necessary.
(b) The clearance between the cables and wire raceway on top of the nose wheel well is not
less than 0.35 in. (8.9 mm).
(c) The cables do not touch the pulley flanges.
(d) The cables are in ±2 degrees of the plane of the pulleys.
(e) The clearance between the aileron control cable and the chain at the forward mechanism
sprocket [12] is not less than 0.75 in. (19.0 mm).
(f) The pulleys turn freely with no interference from the cable guards.
(g) The cables are installed through the grommets and the air pressure seals.
(h) The cables do not touch the cable guards, rub strips, or grommets.
(i) The clearance between the cables and adjacent structure is not less than 0.20 in. (5.1 mm).

(6) Install lockwires to the upper turnbuckle [2] and lower turnbuckle [9].
