HORIZONTAL STABILIZER TRIM CONTROL SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) Stabilizer Control Cable and Chain Adjustment - Use this task to adjust the horizontal stabilizer
control cables and chain.
(2) Stabilizer Manual Trim and Trim Indicator Test - Use this test to make sure the horizontal
stabilizer moves to the correct position when it is operated from the stabilizer trim wheel. This
test also makes sure that the stabilizer trim indicator operates correctly.
(3) Stabilizer Trim Control System Friction Test - Use this test to check the force to operate the
horizontal stabilizer.
(4) Stabilizer Electric Trim System Test - Use this test to make sure the horizontal stabilizer moves
at the correct speed when it is operated from the STAB TRIM switches.
(5) Stabilizer Trim Wheel Free Movement Test - Use this test to test the amount of horizontal
stabilizer movement after the STAB TRIM switches are released.
(6) Stabilizer Trim Limit Switches Test - Use this test to make sure the stabilizer trim limit switches
operate correctly.
(7) Stabilizer Clutch Friction System Test - Use this test to make sure that the correct force will
disconnect the manual clutch.
(8) Column Actuated Stabilizer Trim Cutout Switch Override Test - Use this test to make sure the
horizontal stabilizer follows the commands from the STAB TRIM switches, even though the
column actuated STAB TRIM cutout switches give the opposite command.
(9) Stabilizer Trim Secondary Brake System Test - Use this test to make sure the stabilizer
secondary brake can prevent movement of the horizontal stabilizer.
(10) Stabilizer Trim Cutout Test - Use this procedure to make sure the stabilizer trim cutout switch
operates correctly. The stabilizer trim cutout switch stops the horizontal stabilizer when the
control column command is opposite from the STAB TRIM switches.
(11) Column Cutout Switches Test - Use this test to make sure the captain’s and first officer’s column
cutout switches operate correctly.
