1. General
A. This task supplies the data for a dimensional inspection of the elevator balance panel.
B. This task does not remove or install the rudder. Refer to the Elevator Balance Panel - Removal/
Installation for procedures to remove and install the elevator balance panel.

(1) This procedure gives wear limits and repair data for the elevator balance panel.

SUBTASK 27-31-41-020-005
(1) Remove the elevator balance panel. To remove it, do this task: Elevator Balance Panel -
Removal, TASK 27-31-41-000-801.

(2) Use these tools to check for wear on the parts of the elevator balance panel connections:
(a) micrometer (0-1 Inch, readable to 1/1000 Inch), STD-1096
(b) readable to 1/1000 inch vernier 0 - 6 inch caliper, STD-1097.

(3) Examine the parts of the elevator balance panel connections for worn areas:
(a) Remove the parts to be checked.
(b) Measure the parts, as necessary, with a micrometer (0-1 Inch, readable to 1/1000 Inch),
STD-1096 or a readable to 1/1000 inch vernier 0 - 6 inch caliper, STD-1097.
(c) Compare the dimensions you measured with the permitted wear dimensions that follow:
