5.2 Instructors Simulator/Base
All TRIs, TREs, SFIs and SFEs who held valid authorisations at 30 September 2001 were given grandfather rights. These grandfather rights remain valid until the expiry of that authority at which time they will require to become accredited. To achieve accreditation an assessment will be made of their CRM instructor performance to teach, evaluate and debrief the CRM aspects of LOFT and competency checks during the recurrent three yearly revalidation observation.
All candidates put forward by their companies subsequent to 30 September 2001 will be expected to demonstrate their CRM instructor performance to teach, evaluate and debrief the CRM aspects of LOFT and competency checks during the initial observation by an Inspector of the Authority.
If, prior to 31 March 2003, the holder of an existing authority is assessed as being in some way deficient in their CRM instructor performance they will not have their authority withdrawn, but will be expected to achieve the required degree of proficiency by that date. This will require a further observation of their ability.
After 31 March 2003 instructors will be expected to demonstrate an adequate level of CRM instructor performance, therefore any holder of an existing authority who is assessed as being in some way deficient will have their existing authority withdrawn until the appropriate degree of proficiency is achieved. This will require a further observation of their ability.
5.3 Instructors Line
No Line Training or Line Checking Captains received any grandfather rights. All existing line training and line checking captains should receive the appropriate training, and become accredited prior to 31 March 2003. All new line training and line checking captains after that date will require to become accredited prior to taking up the company appointment.
Accreditation for Instructors Line will be undertaken by a Company CRMIE by means of a workshop, actual line flights or, in the case of multi-pilot operators, a simulator LOFT detail.
