CAUTION:_______DO NOT PERMIT CONTAMINATION TO GET INTO THE EAS. THE EAS IS A SENSITIVE DEVICE. CONTAMINATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE AND FAILURE TO THE EAS.
(1)
Clean the mounting face of the EAS mounting bracket with a clean rag.

Clean the mounting face of the EAS with a clean rag.

Hold the EAS in the correct position for the installation.

Install the mounting bolts (1) in the deep end of the EAS mounting bracket.

Do an inspection of the EAS linkage.
(a)
Examine the control rod for worn areas, bends, cracks or corrosion.
(b)
Examine the output crank of the EAS for worn areas.
(c)
Examine the control rod bearing for worn areas.
(d)
If the condition of the control rod is unsatisfactory, replace the control rod (Fig. 401). 1) Remove the bolt (10), washer (11), and nut (7) that hold
the control rod to the aft torque tube. 2) For the left control rod, make sure the replacement control rod is approximately 22 15/16 inches between bolt centers.

3) For the center control rod, make sure the replacement control rod is approximately 22 15/16 inches between bolt centers.
4) For the right control rod, make sure the replacement control rod is approximately 12 5/16 inches between bolt centers.
5) Connect the replacement rod to the aft torque tube (9) with bolt (10), washer (11) and nut (7).

Remove the caps on the hydraulic lines and the EAS hydraulic ports.
