D. The pitch axis control of the Flight Control Computers (FCCs) controls the pitch axis of the airplane through three seperate Elevator Autopilot Servos (EASs). Flight director pitch axis guidance commands are also provided by the pitch channel.
E. Each EAS receives electrical command signals from the FCCs. These signals are converted to hydraulic commands via the electrohydraulic servovalves which are mounted on each EAS. The output crank of each EAS is linked to the aft torque tube by an adjustable control rod. The control columns are also mechanically linked to the aft torque tube, providing the pilots with the ability to override the autopilot system when sufficient force is applied to the control column.
