_______ GEAR. THE MOVEMENT OF THE RUDDER CAN CAUSE THE NOSE LANDING GEAR TO MOVE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) Install the tow pin at the nose landing gear.

(6) Prepare the rudder surface limit for the test:
(a) Set the rudder to 0-units trim.

(7) Prepare the CDU for the test:
(a)
Push the MENU key on the CDU to show the MENU.
(b)
Push the line select key (LSK) that is adjacent to <CMC to show the CMC MENU.
(c)
If <RETURN shows after you push the LSK, push the LSK that is adjacent to <RETURN until you see the CMC MENU.

Push the LSK that is adjacent to <GROUND TESTS to show the GROUND TESTS menu.
(e)
Push the LSK that is adjacent to <22 AUTOPILOT FLT DIR to show the GROUND TESTS menu for the autopilot flight director system.
(f)
Push the NEXT PAGE key until you find <RUD SURFACE LIMIT.
NOTE: If INHIBITED shows above <RUD SURFACE LIMIT, the test

will not operate.
(g) If INHIBITED shows above <RUD SURFACE LIMIT: 1) Push the LSK that is adjacent to the test prompt. 2) Do the steps shown on the CDU. 3) Push the LSK that is adjacent to <RETURN to show the ground
test menu again.
F. Rudder Surface Limit Ground Test
NOTE:____During this test, visual check is necessary. Make sure that the results shown on the CDU agree with the results given in this procedure.

(1) Push the LSK that is adjacent to <RUD SURFACE LIMIT.
(a)
When the TEST PRECONDITIONS page shows, make sure each instruction on the page is completed. (Push the NEXT PAGE key to see subsequent pages.)
(b)
Push the LSK that is adjacent to START TEST>.
(c)
Continue with the instructions on the CDU until the POSITIVE LIMIT and NEGATIVE LIMIT page is shown.
(d)
Push the LSK adjacent to <POSITIVE LIMIT for the positive surface limit positions.
(e)
Write down the values for the rudder surface position:
L ______ , C ______ , R ______ .
(f)
Make sure that the values for the left, center, and right channels are +24.0 degrees (minimum).

(g) Make sure that the rudder pedals stay at the positive limit and
the AUTOPILOT DISC does not show on the main EICAS display.
(h) Push the LSK adjacent to <CONTINUE on the CDU to go back to the
POSITIVE LIMIT and NEGATIVE LIMIT page.
(i) Push the LSK adjacent to <NEGATIVE LIMIT for the negative
surface limit positions.
(j) Write down the values for the rudder surface position:
L ______ , C ______ , R ______ .
(k) Make sure that the values for the left, center, and right
channels are -24.0 degrees (minimum).
(l) Make sure that the rudder pedals stay at the negative limit and
the AUTOPILOT DISC does not show on the main EICAS display.
(m) Push the LSK adjacent to <CONTINUE on the CDU to go back to the
POSITIVE LIMIT and NEGATIVE LIMIT page.
(n) Push the LSK adjacent to <ADVANCE to complete the test.
NOTE:____ An autopilot disconnect warning will occur at the end of
this test, which is permitted.
(o) Push the captain's or first officer's autopilot disconnect
