 D.  Figure 2 points out the components located in the main equipment center that are involved in generating the AST commands. These include: three flight control computers (FCCs) left, center, and right (L, C, and R) on the E1-1, E1-3, and E1-4 shelves respectively; two stabilizer trim / rudder ratio modules (SRMs) left and right (L and R) on the E1-2 and E2-2 shelves respectively; three flap control units (FCUs) left, center, and right (L, C, and R) on the E1-2, E2-2, E2-2 respectively; four power supply modules (PSMs) 2 left (L) and 2 right (R) on the E1-2 and E2-2 shelves respectively; three digital air data computers (DADCs) left, center, and right (L, C, and R) on the E1-2, E1-3, and E2-3 shelves respectively; and a proximity switching electronics unit (PSEU) on the E1-3 shelf.

 E.  Figure 3 shows the stabilizer jackscrew area, which contains the electric and hydraulic components that complete the AST system. These components include: stabilizer trim limit micro-switches, located on the bulkhead, forward of the stabilizer front spar; two stabilizer trim control modules (STCMs); one primary and two secondary brakes, two hydraulic motors, and a jackscrew assembly comprise the stab trim drive mechanism (STDM); and three stabilizer position transmitter modules, located on the rear bulkhead of the shear deck.
 2.  Manual Electric Trim Switches
_____________________________
 A.  The pair of manual electric trim switches on the outboard horn of each control wheel enable the captain and first officer to input manual electric trim commands to both left and right SRMs. Both the ARM and CONTROL signal switches are three-position switches, spring loaded to the center off position and both must be moved in the same direction to produce a valid command. Trim commands from these switches are sent to both trim channels (both SRMs) thus resulting in full rate trim. The switches are normally open in the center position; when the switches are moved to the nose up or nose down trim position, 28 volts dc from the No. 3 bus is connected to the signal wires.
