B. Remove circuit breaker do-not-operate identifiers and close WEA RDR R/T 1, WEA RDR R/T 2, WEA RDR IND 1 and WEA RDR IND 2 circuit breakers on overhead circuit breaker panel P7.
C. Do the operational test of the weather radar system (AMM 34-43-00/501 CONFIG 1).
D. Do the operational test of the weather radar system (AMM 34-43-00/501-CONFIG 2: RCA AVQ-30X).
E. Do the optional Weather Radar VSWR Test (AMM 34-43-04/501- RCA AVQ-30X).
F. Do the operational test of the weather radar system (AMM 34-43-00/501 CONFIG 3).
NOTE: If you see the correct test pattern, the waveguide is installed
____ correctly. If there is a problem, you will see an R/T FAULT or ANT FAULT message on the WXR indicator.
G. Do the operational test of the weather radar system (AMM 34-43-00/501 CONFIG 4).
NOTE: If you see a usual test pattern, the waveguide is installed
____ correctly. If there is a problem, you will see an T/R or an ANT fault message on the WXR indicator in LRU message slot(s).
H. Remove airplane power if no longer required.

WEATHER RADAR WAVEGUIDE - VSWR TEST
___________________________________
1. General
_______
A. The VSWR test is an optional test to be used as a fault isolation aid or a verification of proper installation of antenna or waveguide.
2. Equipment and Materials
_______________________
A. Radar X-Band VSWR Test Set - AN/UPM-12A
B. VSWR/Power Meter - Airtron 66643 or equivalent
C. Thermistor Mounts (2 each) - Airtran 113746 ("X" Band)
3. Perform VSWR Test
_________________
A. Provide electrical power (Ref 24-22-00).
B. Prepare INS for operation and erect to at least coarse align mode.
C. Ensure that WEA RAD (R/T-1) and WEA RAD (R/T-2) circuit breakers are open.
WARNING: OBSERVE ALL MICROWAVE RADIATION PRECAUTIONS WHEN A VSWR TEST
_______ IS PERFORMED THAT REQUIRES RF RADIATION FROM THE ANTENNA.
D. Perform VSWR test or waveguide and antenna by use of AN/UPM-12A test set components at the waveguide connection at R/T waveguide switch, or gain access to the installed reflectometer (if provided) by entering crawlway to weather radar shelf, with the VSWR meter.
WARNING: OBSERVE ALL MICROWAVE RADIATION PRECAUTIONS WHEN A VSWR TEST
_______ IS PERFORMED THAT REQUIRES RF RADIATION FROM THE ANTENNA.
E. Connect VSWR incident and reflected cables to the similarly marked reflectometer connectors.
F. Close WEA RAD (R/T-1), WEA RAD/IND-1, WEA RAD (R/T-2), and WEA RAD (IND-2) circuit breakers.
G. At control panel, select STBY (standby) mode.
H. After approximately 3-minute warmup, select NOR(M), OFF, or STBY at control panel as required for VSWR test performed. If a GND TEST/NORM switch is provided at control panel or other location (ref Fig. 1, 34-43-00), the NORM position directs output of the R/T transmitter to the antenna; the GRND TEST (if provided) position directs the transmitter output to a dummy load.
I. Observe VSWR reading does not exceed 1.50 to 1.
J. At control panel select OFF mode, remove test equipment, and restore waveguide to original configuration.
K. If no further use of the INS system is anticipated, shutdown properly per 34-41-00 prior to removing from INS or Airplane.
L. Remove electrical if no longer required (Ref 24-22-00).

WEATHER RADAR INDICATOR - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
______________________________________________
1. General
_______
A. Open WEA RDR RT/1, WEA RDR RT/2, WEA RDR IND 1 and WEA RDR IND 2 circuit breakers on overhead circuit breaker panel P7 before removing indicator and tag circuit breaker with do-not-operate identifiers.
B. A weather radar indicator is installed in a mounting tray located in each pilot's lower auxiliary panel. The tray has a locking lever at the forward edge that secures the indicator to the tray. All electrical connections between the indicator and radar system are made through a rack type connector on the rear of the indicator.
C. After installation, remove circuit breaker do-not-operate identifiers and close WEA RDR RT/1, WEA RDR RT/2, WEA RDR IND 1, and WEA RDR IND 2 circuit breakers on overhead circuit breaker panel P7.
