While holding the STS/TEST key on the CDU pressed, turn the DIM knob from extreme left to extreme right position and verify that the brightness of the above listed displays, switches, annunciators and keys (except PMS annunciator) can be adjusted from dim to bright condition. Adjust DIM knob for optimum brightness.
(5)
Release CDU STS/TEST key. Verify the following:
(a)
Line select switches go out.
(b)
Mode annunciators unless lighted prior to test go out.
(c)
INSERT key goes out.
(d)
PMS annunciator goes out.
(e)
PMS status page appears on the PMS CDU display. The title of the page is : STS.....1/1.
NOTE: If a malfunction code appears, correct the system
____ problem before proceeding with the test.
(6)
Adjust the flight deck panel brightness control from dim to bright and verify that the brightness of all keys on the CDU (except INSERT key) can be adjusted from dim to bright. Adjust the panel brightness control for optimum brightness.
(7)
If the PMS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.
F. Limit Indicator (LI) Test
(1)
If required prepare for test as described in paragraph D.
(2)
Press and hold STS/TEST key on the CDU and verify that the
following occurs on the LI:
(a)
The character locations each with a rectangle of 5 by 7 dot matrix are uniformly illuminated.
(b)
The first digit of the TAT line is '|'.
(c)
While holding STS/TEST key on the CDU pressed, rotate the 'Digital Display' dimming control on the lightshield from dim to bright and verify that the brightness of the LI display varies from dim to bright. Adjust dimming control for optimum brightness.
(3)
Release the CDU STS/TEST key.
(4)
If the PMS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal.
G. Limit Select Panel (LSP) Test
(1)
If required prepare for test as described in paragraph D.
(2)
Press and hold the TEST button on the LSP. Verify that the
following on the LSP are illuminated:
(a)
ENGINE RATING I and II keys: illuminated green.
(b)
LIMIT MODE keys: Center bar illuminated white on all six keys.
(c)
DERATE display: All segments and decimal points (.8.8) illuminated white.
(3)
While holding the LSP TEST button pressed perform the following:

(a)
Operate BRIGHT/DIM/TEST switch on the pilot's overhead panel from BRIGHT to DIM and DIM to BRIGHT. Verify that brightness of ENGINE RATING I and II keys, and brightness of center bars on LIMIT MODE keys, correspond to switch position selection.
(b)
Rotate the 'Digital Display' dimming control on the lightshield from dim to bright position and verify that the DERATE display brightness varies from dim to bright. Adjust the dimming control for optimum brightness.
(c)
Press and hold the slew up key (key with arrow pointing up) and verify that the DERATE display changes from (.8.8) to (7.8). Release slew up key.
(d)
Press and hold slew down key (key with arrow pointing down) and verify that the DERATE display changes from (.8.8) to (.87). Release slew down key.
(e)
Press and hold ENGINE RATING I key. Verify that all other keys remain illuminated while the selected key goes out. Release selected key and verify it illuminates again.
(f)
Repeat step (e) for ENGINE RATING II key and for each of the six LIMIT MODE keys.
(4)
Release the LSP TEST button.
(5)
Perform the following on the LSP LIMIT MODE keys.
(a)
Press and release the T/O DRY key. Verify that the center bar on the key is illuminated and the MODE display on the limit indicator (LI) is displaying TOD.
(b)
Press and release CLB key. Verify that the center bar on the T/O DRY key is extinguished and the center bar on the CLB key is illuminated. Verify that the MODE display on the LI is displaying CLB.
(c)
Repeat step (b) for the CRZ, CON and GA keys. Verify that the center bar illuminates on the selected key with CRZ, CON and GA being displayed respectively on the LI.
