Provide cooling air to electronic equipment (Ref 21-58-00).
CAUTION: ENSURE EQUIPMENT COOLING IS OPERATED BEFORE TURN ON
_______ OF ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT MAY RESULT. EQUIPMENT COOLING SYSTEM MUST BE SET FOR NORMAL COOLING AS DESCRIBED IN 21-58-00.
ENSURE THAT COOLING AIR IS AVAILABLE TO INS NAVIGATION UNITS BEFORE OPERATING INS. FAILURE TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE AIR SUPPLY WILL RESULT IN FAILURE OF NAVIGATION UNITS.
(c)
Ensure that the Central Air Data Computer System is operational (Refer to 34-12).
(d)
Ensure that present position latitude and longitude coordinates are entered into each INS (Refer to 34-41). Verify that the mode selector switch, on each INS MSU, is set to ALIGN.
(e)
On IB airplanes, ensure that the AUTO/MAN/RMT switch on each INS CDU is set to MAN.
(f)
To turn on the PMS, close all PMS circuit breakers.
(g)
Adjust flight deck lighting controls for optimum backlighting of CDU keys and switches.
(h)
Enter gross weight of airplane into the PMS.
NOTE: Gross weight must be re-entered into the PMS whenever
____ PMS power is interrupted for more than seven minutes. Lack of gross weight will cause the PMS CDU to display a "PMS INHIBITED' message on the STS (status) page. In addition, lack of gross weight will cause a 'CHK GWT' message to appear in the title line of all PMS pages, and will also inhibit PMS coupling with the throttle system.
(i) To test at PMS CDU, press and hold PMS CDU STS/TEST key. (Rotate CDU DIM control as needed to obtain optimum level of lighting). 1) CDU display has 24 rectangles in each of the four lines.

2) PMS limit indicator (LI) displays uniform rectangles
except for first digit of TAT which is |. 3) CDU mode annunciators; CLB, CRZ and DES illuminate. 4) CDU PMS annunciator illuminates. 5) Line select switches and INSERT key illuminate.
6) Release PMS CDU STS/TEST key.
7) PMS status page appears on the CDU display. The title
of the page is: STS.....1/1.
8) Mode annunciators CLB, CRZ and DES, unless illuminated

(j) To test at PMS limit select panel (LSP), press and hold LSP TEST pushbutton. 1) LSP DERATE display is .8.8. 2) LSP ENGINE RATING I and II keys and LIMIT MODE keys

3) While holding PMS LSP TEST pushbutton depressed, operate LSP slew keys one at a time. a) With LSP down slew key depressed, DERATE display on
LSP is .87. b) With LSP up slew key depressed, DERATE display on LSP is 7.8.
4) While holding LSP TEST pushbutton depressed, depress LSP limit mode keys one at a time. LIMIT MODE keys are extinguished while depressed but illuminate again when released.
