 Ensure that the auto throttle system is operational (Refer to 22-31).

 Position the throttle levers to the aft limit.

 Place the Captain's and F/O's FLT DIR CMPTR select switches to 'A'.

 (13)
 Place the following switches on the A/P-F/D MSP to the positions shown:


 Captain's and F/O's FLT DIR switches to ON
 TURB/SPEED switch to PMS.
 Auto Throttle (A/T) Engage switch to ON
 (14)
 Note airplane barometric altitude, then set the readout on the ALT SEL counter (on the A/P-F/D MSP) to 5000 feet above airplane altitude.

 (15)
 Place the altitude switch on the A/P-F/D MSP to the ALT SEL position. Verify on both pilot's FMA's that the FD (flight director) ALT SEL annunciator indicates an ARM (amber or white) condition.

 (16)
 Adjust the barometric set knob on the Captain's altimeter, until the altimeter indicates an altitude 200 feet below airplane altitude.

 (17)
 Slowly decrease (towards airplane altitude) the readout on the ALT SEL counter until the FD ALT SEL annunciator (on both FMA's) indicates a CAPTURE (green) condition.

 (18)
 At the time the ALT SEL annunciator indicates a CAPTURE (green) condition verify that:

 (a)  
The TURB/SPEED switch reverts to the OFF position.

 (b)  
A/T Engage switch remains ON.

 (c)  
SELECT is illuminated on the SPEED switch; on both the Captain's and F/O's A/T mode select panel.

 

 (19)
 Return the altitude switch on the A/P-F/D MSP to the OFF position.

 (20)
 Adjust the altimeter barometric setting, as required, to 29.92 inches of mercury.

 (21)
 Return the following switches on the A/P-F/D MSP to the positions shown:


 Captain's and F/O's FLT DIR switches to OFF
 A/T Engage switch to OFF
 (22) Close the GND SAFETY RELAY circuit breaker, to place the relay in the GND position.
 (23)
 If the PMS is no longer required, restore airplane to normal. AV. Restore Airplane to Normal.

Open all PMS circuit breakers.

 (2)  
Remove electrical power if no longer required (Ref 24-22-00).

 

 (3)

 PMS CONTROL DISPLAY UNIT - SERVICING (RELAMPING)

 1.  General
_______
 A.  The PMS control display unit (CDU) is located on the forward control stand electronics panel P9.
 2.  Equipment
_________
 A.  Bulb/Assembly Removal Tool - Delco 7892088-011 (for key and lamp replacement on CDU P/N 16008000-11/511)
 B.  Bulb Removal/Replacement Tool - Delco DT1973A (for bulb replacement on CDU P/N 16008000-21/41)
 3.  Relamp Mode and Status Annunciators CDU P/N 16008000-011/511 (Fig. 301, 302)

 A.  Lamp Removal
 (1)  
Open PMS CDU circuit breaker on P7 panel.

 (2)  
Remove two flat head screws securing annunciator window to CDU front panel and remove annunciator window.

 (3)  
Remove annunciator lamp by pulling it out of front panel recess with fingertips.


 B.  Lamp Installation
 (1) Install annunciator lamp by pressing into front panel recess.
 NOTE: Ensure spring contacts extend 0.075 (|0.005) inch from
____ bottom of lamp package and side spring is bent down to permit ease of installation into the front panel cavity.
 (2)  
Secure annunciator window to front panel with flat head screws.

 (3)  
Close PMS CDU circuit breaker on P7 panel.


 4.  Relamp Mode and Status Annunciators CDU P/N 16008000-21 (Fig. 301, 302)

 A.  Lamp Removal
 (1)  
Open PMS CDU circuit breaker on P7 panel.

 (2)  
Remove appropriate annunciator cover from CDU front panel by loosening the two captive screws.

 (3)  
Remove diffuser block covering lamp.

 (4)  
Using bulb removal/replacement tool (Fig. 303), remove desired bulb by alternately working each lead out of socket (to avoid shattering bulb do not grasp bulb body).
