(12) Enter gross weight of airplane into the PMS as follows:
(a)
Press PLNG key on the PMS CDU. Push the CDU slew switch as required to advance the display to PLNG INIT ..... 2/6 page. Verify that the left part of data line 1 indicates:
GWT _ _ _ . _
(b)
Press the PMS CDU line select 1 key. Verify the key illuminates.
(c)
Using the data keys on the PMS CDU, enter gross weight of airplane to nearest hundred pounds (or tenth of a metric ton). Gross weight appears in data line 1 of the CDU display and the CDU INSERT key illuminates.
NOTE: A gross weight, for example, of 643200 pounds is
____
entered as 6432.
(d) Ensure correct gross weight is displayed then press INSERT key. INSERT key and line select 1 key extinguish.
D. PMS Control Display Unit (CDU) Test
(1)
Verify that the DIM knob on the CDU is set to approximately half position of its full travel.
(2)
Press and hold STS/TEST key on the CDU and verify that the following occurs on the CDU:
(a)
Four display lines each with 24 rectangles of 5 by 7 dot matrices illuminate.
(b)
Line select switches 1, 2 and 3 illuminate white.
(c)
Mode annunciators (CLB, CRZ and DES) illuminate white.
(d)
INSERT key illuminates amber.
(e)
PMS annunciator illuminates amber.
(3)
While holding the STS/TEST key on the CDU pressed, turn the DIM knob from extreme left to extreme right position and verify that the brightness of the above listed displays, switches, annunciators and keys (except PMS annunciator) can be adjusted from dim to bright condition. Adjust DIM knob for optimum brightness.
(4)
Release CDU STS/TEST key. Verify the following:
(a)
Line select switches go out.
(b)
Mode annunciators unless lighted prior to test go out.
(c)
INSERT key goes out.
(d)
PMS annunciator goes out.

(e) PMS status page appears on the PMS CDU display. The title of the page is: STS.....1/1.
NOTE: If a malfunction code appears, correct the system
____ problem before proceeding with the test.
(5) Adjust the flight deck panel brightness control from dim to bright and verify that the brightness of all keys on the CDU (except INSERT key) can be adjusted from dim to bright. Adjust the panel brightness control for optimum brightness.
E. Limit Indicator (LI) Test
(1)
Press and hold STS/TEST key on the CDU and verify that the
following occurs on the LI:
(a)
The character locations each with a rectangle of 5 by 7 dot matrix are uniformly illuminated.
(b)
The first digit of the TAT line is '|'.
(c)
While holding STS/TEST key on the CDU pressed, rotate the 'Digital Display' dimming control on the lightshield from dim to bright and verify that the brightness of the LI display varies from dim to bright. Adjust dimming control for optimum brightness.
(2)
Release the CDU STS/TEST key.
F. Limit Select Panel (LSP) Test
(1)
Press and hold the TEST button on the LSP. Verify that the following on the LSP are illuminated:
(a)
ENGINE RATING I and II keys: illuminated green.
(b)
LIMIT MODE keys: Center bar illuminated white on all six keys.
(c)
DERATE display: All segments and decimal points (.8.8) illuminated white.
