WEATHER RADAR RECEIVER/TRANSMITTER MOUNT - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. On Passenger Airplanes; The receiver/transmitter mount is attached to the shelf assembly. To remove the mount, the mount must be electrically and mechanically disconnected from the shelf assembly. The mount is supplied by the same manufacturer as the R/T and is the interface between the R/T and other weather radar components and airplane wiring. The shelf is the interface between the R/T mount and the airplane forward equipment center (E5) rack installation.
B. On Freighter Airplanes; Two receiver/transmitter mounts are installed below the compartment floor in the nose cargo area. The mounts are supplied by the same manufacturer as the R/Ts and are the interface between the R/Ts and other weather radar components and airplane wiring. Access to the R/T mounts is gained by removing floor compartment panels in the nose cargo area.

4. Remove the R/T Mount on Passenger Airplanes (Fig. 401)
___________________________________________
A. Open WEA RAD R/T No. 1 and 2 and WEA RAD IND No. 1 and 2 circuit breakers on overhead circuit breaker panel P7 and tag circuit breakers with Do-Not-Operate identifiers.
B. Remove R/T No. 1 and 2 from R/T mount (Ref 34-43-02).
C. Remove screws, lockwashers and gasket securing waveguide to waveguide switch. Retain hardware.
D. Disconnect electrical connector from waveguide switch.
E. Remove retaining screws and nuts securing electrical connectors to R/T mount. Retain hardware.
F. Remove electrical connectors from R/T mount.
G. Remove screws securing R/T mount to shelf assembly (Fig. 401).
H. Carefully remove R/T mount from shelf assembly.
CAUTION: EXERCISE CARE TO PREVENT ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE TO WIRE BUNDLES
_______ OR COAX CABLES WHEN REMOVING R/T MOUNT FROM SHELF ASSEMBLY.
5. Remove the R/T Mounts on Freighter Airplanes (Fig. 401)

A. Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(1) On the overhead circuit breaker panel P7:
(a)

(b)
WEA RDR R/T 1
B. Remove the floor compartment panels in the nose cargo area to gain access to the receiver/transmitters.
