AF TCAS SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST (SOFTWARE 6.04A)
______________________________________________ AF AF 1. _______
General AF A. The TCAS system adjustment/test procedure consists of an operational test AF and a system test. AF B. The operational test is intended to be used without test equipment for a AF relatively quick check of the operational status of the system. AF C. The system test may be performed using the IFR TCAS 201 ramp test set. AF 2. ______________________________
Operational Test - TCAS System AF A. General AF (1) The following paragraph provides a step by step operational test AF procedure for the TCAS system. AF B. Referenced Procedures AF (1) AMM 24-22-00, Maintenance Practices (Apply power) AF (2) AMM 34-53-00, ATC System AF C. Test TCAS System Operation AF (1) Provide electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201). AF (2) Verify ATC 1, ATC 2, TCAS, IVSI CAPT and IVSI F/O circuit breakers AF on P7 panel are closed. AF (3) On ATC/TCAS control panel, select TA/RA mode, set ABV/N/BLW switch AF to N and ALT RPTG switch to ON. AF (a) Verify captain's and F/O IVSI display the pointer, the vertical AF speed scale, the airplane symbol, the range marks, the range AF scale and the TA ONLY flag. AF (b) Push range pushbuttons (+) or (-) and verify the range message AF shows 16 NM or 8 NM or 4 NM. AF 1) Check the range marks: AF a) On 16 NM scale check 6 NM and 2 NM range marks AF b) On 8 NM check 2 NM range marks AF c) On 4 NM check 2 NM range marks AF 2) Select 4 NM range. AF (4) On ATC/TCAS control panel press and release the TEST button and AF check: AF (a) On control panel XPNDR FAIL lamp comes on for 3 seconds and AF then the display shows PASS during the test. AF (b) Both IVSI shows the following TEST pattern, then reverts to AF normal display after 8 seconds: AF 1) The TEST message is displayed under the airplane symbol. AF 2) An RA test pattern is displayed adjacent to the IVSI scale AF as follows: AF a) red arc from + 2000 to +6000 AF b) red arc from 0 to -6000 AF c) green arc from 0 to approximately +300 AF 3) A traffic test pattern is displayed in the center of the AF indicator as follows: AF a) RA intruder (solid red square), 2 NM distance, +90. AF bearing, relative altitude symbol of +02 displayed AF above the intruder symbol.

AF b) TA intruder (solid yellow circle), 2 NM distance, -90. AF bearing, relative altitude of -02 displayed below the AF intruder symbol, with an up arrow right of the intruder AF symbol. AF c) Proximity intruder (solid cyan diamond), 3.6 NM AF distance, +35. bearing, relative altitude of -10 AF displayed below the intruder symbol, with a down arrow AF right of the intruder symbol. AF d) Other intruder (open cyan diamond), 3.6 NM distance, AF -35. bearing, relative altitude of +10 displayed above AF the intruder symbol. AF 4) The aural annunciation "TCAS SYSTEM TEST OK" occurs at the AF end of the self-test sequence. AF (5) Select TA ONLY mode on control panel and repeat step (4). AF AF NOTE:____The test pattern will continue to be displayed as long as the AF test pushbutton is held in TEST. The audio message will not AF occur until after the pushbutton is released. AF AF 3. ___________
System Test (using IFR TCAS 201 Test Set)
A. General AF (1) The system test is a complete checkout of the TCAS. The first part AF of the system test consists of the performance of all tests possible AF using only the built-in test capability of the equipment installed AF in the airplane (operational test). The balance of the system test AF requires the use of a TCAS ramp test set. AF B. Equipment and Materials AF (1) TCAS RAmp Test Set - INSTRUMENT FLIGHT RESEARCH TCAS 201 AF (2) Portable pressure equipment to simulate 0 to 35000 feet altitude AF (AMM 34-11-00) AF (3) Radioaltitude ramp test set AF (4) VOR/ILS ramp test set AF C. Referenced Procedures AF (1) AMM 32-00-00 Airborne Condition Simulation AF (2) AMM 34-12-00 Adjustment/Test AF (3) AMM 34-11-00 Adjustment/Test (Apply Pressure) AF (4) AMM 34-33-00 Adjustment/Test AF D. Prepare for Test AF (1) Perform a self-test of the TCAS ramp test set. AF (2) Ensure altitude source circuit breakers on P7 panel are closed. AF E. Test TCAS AF AF CAUTION:_______IN THE FOLLOWING TEST, DO NOT SELECT CODES 3100, 7500, AF 7600, 7700, THEY ARE EMERGENCY CODES. AF AF NOTE:____Unless specified, all IVSI checks are to be done on both captain's AF and F/O IVSI. AF AF (1) Perform an operational test of the TCAS from the TCAS control panel. AF Refer to the above paragraph. AF (a) Perform test with airplane in ground condition.
