8. Install Sense Antenna (Fig. 401)
_____________________
A. Clean faying surfaces of all dimpled washers and countersunk portions of bolt holes in ADF sense antenna. Lightly sand enamel surface as required to ensure contact between dimpled washers and aluminum flame spray.
CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE FLAME SPRAY COATING.
_______
B. Connect sense antenna cable to sense antenna connection stub if
previously removed.

C. Position antenna panel in mounting area and fasten in place using bolts (as removed) and dimpled washers in existing holes. Replace damaged bolts and washers if required.
XA D. (DELETED).
E. Connect antenna lead to ADF sense antenna coupler.
F. Install antenna coupler per par. 6.
G. Test sense antenna per par. 12.
9. Remove Quadrantal Error Corrector and Loop Antenna (Fig. 401)
__________________________________________________
NOTE: The quadrantal error corrector is mounted on the loop antenna by the
____ coax connector. The loop antenna must be removed to replace the quadrantal error corrector.
A. Support loop antenna unit and cover assembly. Remove 17 screws.
B. Break the seal around the ADF loop antenna.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU BREAK THE SEAL AROUND THE ADF LOOP ANTENNA.
_______ TOO MUCH FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ANTENNA OR THE AIRPLANE MATING SURFACE.
C. Lower loop antenna and antenna cover assembly.
CAUTION:_______DO NOT PULL ON THE ANTENNA CABLE. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CABLE AND THE ADF LOOP ANTENNA.
D. Disconnect coaxial connector from quadrantal error corrector assembly.
E. Remove antenna and cover assembly.
F. Remove quadrantal error corrector from loop antenna.
10. Prepare for Installation
________________________
A. Clean the faying surface of the airplane structure and the ADF loop antenna. If the surfaces are anodized, use a 400 or finer abrasive over the faying surfaces.
B. Use a clean cloth to clean the faying surfaces.
C. Do these two steps until the metal of the bonding surface is bright, clean and dry.
D. Apply a layer of alodine to the airplane mating surfaces.
11. Install Quadrantal Error Corrector and Loop Antenna (Fig. 401)
___________________________________________________
A. Install quadrantal error corrector on loop antenna.
B. Position antenna and cover assembly. Connect coaxial connector to quadrantal error corrector.
C. Hold antenna cover in place.
D. Lightly tighten the cad plated stainless steel screws to hold the antenna in the correct position.
E. Manually tighten the screws to 15-17 pound-inches of torque.
CAUTION:_______TIGHTEN THE SCREWS MANUALLY TO THE CORRECT TORQUE VALUE. USE OF POWER OR AIR TOOLS TO TIGHTEN THE SCREWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ANTENNA SURFACE.
F. Do a check of the continuity between the antenna and the airplane skin:

(1)
Connect the bonding meter between the head of each screw and the airplane skin.
(2)
Make sure each measurement of continuity is less than 25 milliohms (AMM 20-22-01/601).
G. Apply the weather aerodynamic sealant, BMS 5-95, to the outer edge of the antenna (AMM 51-31-01/201).
H. Apply the weather aerodynamic sealant, BMS 5-95, to the head of each screw (AMM 51-31-01/201).
I. Remove the unwanted sealant from around the antenna base
(AMM 51-31-01/201).
J. Test loop antenna per par. 12.
12. Test ADF System_______________
A. Close ADF AC and DC circuit breakers on P7 panel.
B. Apply electrical power (24-22-00).
C. Set mode switch to ADF.
D. Turn BFO switch to OFF.
E. Tune ADF system to receive known standard broadcast station in 550- to 830-kHz range.
F. Check that RMI indicates correct bearing to selected station (relative bearing with compass system off).
