Dec 25/82Malfunction causes Speed valid signal to fail.
When TURB/SPEED switch is in PMS position and A/T engage switch is ON, failure of speed valid signal causes A/T switch to fall to OFF position. Hence, PMS thrust commands are disconnected from the throttle servomotor and the A/T red warning light (on FMA) flashes.
Malfunction causes Vertical Steering valid signal to fail.
When flight director is ON and TURB/SPEED switch is in PMS position, failure of Vertical Steering valid signal causes ADI pitch command bar to be driven out of view.
When autopilot is engaged and TURB/SPEED switch is in PMS position, failure of Vertical Steering valid signal causes A/P red warning light (on FMA) to turn on.
IB airplanes :
Malfunction causes EPRL valid to fail.
If EPR indicator is in automatic mode, failure of EPRL Valid signal causes indicator warning flag to cover EPR command counter.
AF airplanes:
Malfunction causes N1 valid to fail.
If N1 indicator is in automatic mode, failure of N1 Valid signal causes indicator warning flag to cover N1 command counter.
4 INS Malfunction Detected.
INS transmits malfunction (failure) codes to the PMS. These codes cause PMS malfunction codes (pertaining to the INS malfunctions) to be displayed consecutively on the PMS CDU. Record PMS codes until they repeat, then press STS/TEST key on PMS CDU. Refer to 34-41 for required action on INS.
