AF b) TA occurs normally, AF c) No RA occurs. AF 3) Stop scenario. AF (12) Check BELOW and ABOVE functions. AF (a) BELOW function. AF 1) Set airplane in simulated in-air condition. AF 2) Set radioaltitude above 2500 ft. AF 3) Set ADC 1 to 11000 ft. AF 4) Set the ramp test set to simulate an intruder aircraft with AF the following parameters: AF a) Intruder type: ATCRBS AF b) range: 6 NM AF c) range rate: 0 Kts AF d) altitude: 4100 ft AF e) altitutde rate: 0 ft/mn AF 5) On the TCAS control panel, place the ABV/N/B/W selector to AF BLW. AF 6) Check the other traffic intruder symbol and -69 relative AF altitude on IVSI. AF 7) Decrease intruder altitude to 3900 ft and observe intruder AF disappears from display. AF (b) ABOVE function. AF 1) Set the ramp test set to simulate an intruder aircraft with AF the following parameters: AF a) Intruder type: ATCRBS AF b) range: 6 NM AF c) range rate: 0 Kts AF d) altitude: 17900 ft AF e) altitude rate: 0 ft/mn AF 2) On the TCAS control panel place the ABV/N/BLW selector to AF ABOVE. AF 3) Check the other traffic intruder symbol and +69 relative AF altitude on IVSI. AF 4) Increase intruder altitude to 18100 ft and observe intruder AF disappears from display. AF 5) Place ABV/N/BLW control panel selector to N. AF (13) Check of intruder vertical speed arrow. Verify arrow is displayed AF when intruder vertical speed is greater than 500 ft/mn. AF (a) Intruder in climb. AF 1) Set airplane in simulated in-air condition. AF 2) Set radioaltitude above 2500 ft. AF 3) Set ADC 1 to 11000 ft. GROUND PROXIMITY WARNING SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
___________________________________________________________
1. General (Fig. 1)
_______
A. The ground proximity warning system (GPWS) provides the pilots with aural and visual warning of potentially dangerous flight paths relative to the ground. The GPWS processes radio altitude information from the No. 1 low range radio altimeter (LRRA), altitude rate information from the No. 1 central air data computer (CADC), glide slope deviation, flap position, and landing gear position signals to provide warning of the following hazards:
(1)
Inadvertent descent close to the ground.
(2)
Level flight or too shallow climb towards rising terrain.
(3)
Excessive rate of descent.
(4)
Deliberate descent in unsuspected proximity to the ground.
