(a)
Operate BRIGHT/DIM/TEST switch on the pilot's overhead panel from BRIGHT to DIM and DIM to BRIGHT. Verify that brightness of ENGINE RATING I and II keys, and brightness of center bars on LIMIT MODE keys correspond to switch position selection.
(b)
Rotate the 'Digital Display' dimming control on the lightshield from dim to bright position and verify that the DERATE display brightness varies from dim to bright. Adjust the dimming control for optimum brightness.
(c)
Press and hold the slew up key (key with arrow pointing up) and verify that the DERATE display changes from (.8.8) to (7.8). Release slew up key.
(d)
Press and hold slew down key (key with arrow pointing down) and verify that the DERATE display changes from (.8.8) to (.87). Release slew down key.
(e)
Press and hold ENGINE RATING I key. Verify that all other keys remain illuminated while the selected key goes out. Release selected key and verify it illuminates again.
(f)
Repeat step (e) for ENGINE RATING II key and for each of the six LIMIT MODE keys.

Release the LSP TEST button.
(4)
Perform the following on the LSP LIMIT MODE keys.
(a)
Press and release the T/O DRY key. Verify that the center bar on the key is illuminated and the MODE display on the limit indicator (LI) is displaying TOD.
(b)
Press and release CLB key. Verify that the center bar on the T/O DRY key is extinguished and the center bar on the CLB key is illuminated. Verify that the MODE display on the LI is displaying CLB.
(c)
Repeat step (b) for the CRZ, CON and GA keys. Verify that the center bar illuminates on the selected key with CRZ, CON and GA being displayed respectively on the LI.
(d)
Repeat step (b) for the spare key. Verify that the center bar on the spare key does not illuminate and the MODE display on the LI does not change from the last displayed mode.
(5)
Press and release ENGINE RATING I key on the LSP. Verify the key is illuminated and the RTG display on the LI reads the selected rating on the illuminated key.
(6)
Press and release ENGINE RATING II key. Verify ENGINE RATING I key is extinguished and ENGINE RATING II key is illuminated. Also verify that the RTG display on the LI reads the selected rating on the illuminated key.
(7)
On IB airplanes, press and release ENGINE RATING II key. Verify that ENGINE RATING I and ENGINE RATING II keys are both extinguished and the RTG display on the LI reads '7Q'.
(8)
On AF airplanes, press and release ENGINE RATING II key. Verify that ENGINE RATING I and ENGINE RATING II keys are both extinguished and the RTG display on the LI reads '50E2'.
G. Annunciator Lamp Test
(1)
Hold the IND LIGHTS switch (P5 panel) in the TEST position, and verify the following:
(a)
VERT ALERT (amber) annunciators on the pilot's panels illuminate.
(b)
PMS (amber) annunciator on the pilot's center instrument panel illuminates.
(c)
On AF airplanes; plus IB airplanes incorporating SB 34-2193, PATH ARM (amber), PATH (green), SPD ARM (amber), SPEED (green) and T/HOLD (green) annunciators illuminate, on each PMS mode annunciator module (P72 panel).
(2)
Return the IND LIGHTS switch (P5 panel) to the BRIGHT position.
H. PMS Computer Software Sum Check
(1)
Press PLNG key on the PMS CDU, and then press line select switch 2. Observe and note the PMS computer unit software part number; on the top line of the CDU display.
(2)
Press CDU CLEAR key.

(3) To verify software validity, perform the software sum check. To perform the software sum check press PMS CDU STS/TEST key, press line select switch 1, and then key in 0, 1, 0, 0, 0. Observe PMS CDU, and verify for the software sum check that the CDU display appears as shown below; with respect to the applicable computer unit software part number (P/N).
(a) For software P/N 7891910-005, verify that CDU display for sum check appears as follows:
