AF (a) Enter the appropriate range for the top antenna.
AF (b) Choose the top antenna on the SELECTED field.
(4) Push the PWR TEST key on the test set.
AF (5) Use the SELECT key on the test set and select the top antenna.
AF (6) Do a test of the POWER TEST.
AF (a) Make sure the peak power output of the transponder is between
AF 125W (ERP = 51.0 dBm) and 500W (ERP = 57.0 dBm).
AF (b) Make sure the Minimum Threshold Level (MTL) sensitivity is
AF -74 dBm (|3 dBm).
AF (c) Make sure the test set shows PASSED for the TOP AVG (dBm).
AF (7) Do a check of the squitter test.
AF (a) Make sure the squitter period is between 1.6 to 2.4 seconds.
AF (8) Remove the bottom antenna shield.
AF (9) Push the POWER key to turn OFF the test set.
AF H. Prepare for the No. 2 ATC System Test
AF (1) Open ATC No. 1 circuit breaker on P7 panel.
AF (2) Close ATC No. 2 circuit breaker on P7 panel.
AF (3) On the ATC control panel, set the controls as follows:
AF (a) Select switch to STBY
AF (b) Code switches to 0001
AF (c) Altitude reporting to OFF
AF (4) Prepare the IFR ATC 601 test set as follows:
AF (a) Put the test set antenna in position towards the aircraft ATC 2
AF bottom antenna, between 6 and 18 feet (2 and 6m) from the
AF airplanes's bottom ATC antenna.

AF NOTE: The test set antenna must be within the line of sight of____
AF the ATC 1 bottom antenna.

AF (b) Connect the test set antenna to the test set.
AF (c) Push the POWER key on the test set.

AF recharging, refer to operation section of the IFR 601
AF test set operator's manual.

(d) Push the SELF TEST key on the test set.
(e) Push the RUN/STOP key to start the self test.
AF 1) Make sure the test set display shows PASSED.
AF (f) Push the SETUP key on the self test.
AF (g) Measure the distance between the ATC No. 2 antenna and the test
AF set antenna in feet.
AF (h) Put the measured distance value into the RANGE field for the
AF bottom entry.
AF (i) Put the height, measured from the ground up, of the ATC No. 2
AF antenna into the HEIGHT field for the BOTTOM antenna entry.
AF (j) Choose the bottom antenna on the SELECTED field.
