(a) Do a check of the Side Lobe Suppression (SLS).
1) Make sure the reply is received when the SLS pulse is -9dB and no reply is received when the SLS pulse is 0dB.
NOTE: Run the SLS level test in less than 95 feet
____
(28.96 meters) of the UUT antenna.
(6) Do the Sensitivity Test as follows:
(a)
Do a check of the Minimum Triggering Level (MTL) Difference.
1) Make sure the Minimum Triggering Level (MTL) difference between mode A and mode C is 1.0dBm.
(b)
Do a check of the Minimum Triggering Level (MTL).
1) Make sure the Minimum Triggering Level (MTL) is -73dBm (|4dBm).
(7) Do the Peak Output Power Test as follows:
(a) Do a check of the Peak Output Power.
1) Make sure the peak power output of the transponder is between 70W (ERP = 48.5 dBm) and 500W (ERP = 57.0 dBm).
(8) Do the Transponder Code Capability Test as follows:
CAUTION:_______DO NOT USE CODES 7500, 7600, 7700. THESE ARE EMERGENCY CODES.
(a)
Set the code select switch on the ATC control panel to an arbritary code. 1) Make sure the ATC test set shows PASSED and the selected
ATC code is shown in the code field.
(b)
Push and release the IDENT switch on the ATC control panel.
1) Make sure the ATC test set shows ID in the code field for 15 to 30 seconds.
(9) Do the Altitude Reporting Test as follows:
(a)
Set the altitude reporting on.
(b)
Connect the air data test set to the applicable pitot-static system (AMM 34-11-00/201).
(c)
Set the applicable altimeter to 29.92 inches of mercury.
(d)
Apply a static pressure with the air data test set to simulate different altitudes (AMM 34-11-00/201).
NOTE: The altitude value is shown on the ALT field of the ATC
____
test set.
1) Make sure that the applicable altimeter shows within | 125 feet of the test altitude shown by the test set.
(e)
Set the altitude reporting off.
(f)
Set the ATC select switch to stand-by or off.
(10) Remove electrical power if it is not necessary (AMM 24-22-00).

AF ATC SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
____________________________ AF AF 1. _______
General AF A. The adjustment test procedure for the ATC system contains two tasks. The AF first task is an operational test, the second task is a system test. The AF operational test is a fast check of the system. The system test uses a AF ramp test set to examine the ATC system. To fully examine the ATC AF system, do the operational test and the system test. AF B. Two ATC systems are installed in the airplane. AF (1) ATC system 1 is a mode S ATC. The system test may be performed AF using the Instrument Flight Research ATC 601 ramp test set. AF (2) ATC System 2 is ATCRBS mode A or C. The system test may be AF performed using the Tel. Instrument Electronics Corp. T 33B or IFR AF 600A or IFR ATC 601 ramp test set. AF 2. ______________________________
Operational Test - ATC 1 and 2 AF A. General AF (1) The following paragraph provides a step-by-step operational test AF procedure for the ATC system. The operational test is a fast AF preflight checkout to determine that the system is operating AF properly and requires only the use of the built-in test features of AF the equipment installed in the airplane. AF B. Referenced Procedures AF (1) AMM 24-22-00/201, Maintenance Practices (Apply Power) AF C. Prepare for the Operational Test AF (1) Provide electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201). AF (2) Verify ATC 1 and ATC 2 circuit breakers on panel P7 are closed. AF (3) Select STBY on ATC control module, allow at least 1 minute warning AF time. AF (4) Set DIM and TEST panel lights switch to TEST and check all digits AF appear on control panel.
