ATC SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST
____________________________
1. General
_______
A. The ATC system adjustment/test procedure consists of an operational test, and four system tests. The operational test is intended to be used without test equipment for a relatively quick check of the operational status of the system.
B. The system test may be performed using The Collins 476X-3, The Tel-Instrument Electronics Corp. T-33B, Instrument Flight Research ATC -600A, or Instrument Flight Research ATC-601 ramp test sets.
2. Operational Test - ATC System
_____________________________
A. General
(1) The following paragraph provides a step-by-step operational test procedure for the ATC system. The operational test is a fast, preflight checkout to determine that the system is operating properly and requires only the use of the built-in test features of the equipment installed in the airplane.
B. Referenced Procedures
(1) AMM 24-22-00, Maintenance Practices (Apply Power)
C. Test ATC System Operation
(1)
Provide electrical power (AMM 24-22-00).
(2)
Verify ATC 1 and ATC 2 circuit breakers on panel P7 are closed.
(3)
Select STBY on ATC control module, allow at least one minute warming time.
(4)
After system warm up, set up and operate appropriate ATC system in mode A.
(5)
On AF 101-151; LH 001-010, 031-050, 071-081; AZ 201-219; IB ALL; SN ALL; Press TEST button ATC control module and verify that TEST light glows. Release test button.
(6)
On AF 152-199; AZ 221-299; LH 011-030, 051-070, 082-099; AT ALL; GN ALL; MD ALL VM ALL; SN 351-352; Press TEST button on ATC control module and check that REPLY light comes on and FAULT light does not come on.
(7)
On ATC control module position function selector to STBY or OFF as appropriate.
(8)
Remove electrical power if no longer required (AMM 24-22-00).
3. System Test - ATC System (Using Collins 476X-3 Test Set)
________________________
A. General
(1) The system test is a complete system checkout of the ATC. The first part of the system test consists of the performance of all tests possible using only the built-in test capability of the equipment installed in the airplane (operational test). The balance of the system test requires the use of an ATC ramp test set.
B. Equipment and Materials
(1)
ATC Transponder Ramp Test Set - Collins 476X-3
(2)
Portable pressure equipment to simulate 0 to 35,000 feet altitude (Ref 34-11-00).

D. Prepare for Test
(1) Prior to the use of the ATC transponder ramp test set, Collins 476X-3 in the ATC system test, the following calibration and self-test of the 476X-3 should be performed.
