C. The pressure fueling operation is controlled at the refueling control panel at the left wing fueling station. The panel contains switches and indicator lights, to control and monitor the positions of the system components. The panel also provides a means to pre-select the desired fuel quantity to be onboard when pressure fueling operation is complete. A proximity switch, actuated by the panel access door, cuts off all power to the panel when the panel access door is closed.
D. If fuel overflows into the wing surge tank due to fuel quantity processor malfunction, the pressure fueling operation will terminate automatically.
2. Fueling Receptacle (Fig. 1)__________________
A. The fueling receptacles provide a means of connecting ground refueling hose nozzles to the pressure fueling system.
B. Two receptacles at each fueling station are mounted on the forward face of the front spar. Each receptacle consists of a fueling nozzle adapter, a cast aluminum elbow, a cap, a spring-loaded check valve, and a manual shutoff valve attached to the spar and connected to the manifold. The fueling nozzle adapter has mating lugs to couple with and secure a fueling hose. When not in use, the receptacles are covered and sealed by the cap which engages the lugs on the hose nozzle adapter. Each cap is secured to its respective adapter by a chain.
C. A defuel lever is located on the refuel receptacle adapter. The defuel lever is marked LIFT TO DEFUEL. After each refuel or defuel operation, make sure the defuel lever is stowed correctly in the recess on the refuel receptacle adapter.
D. When a hose is coupled to the refuel receptacle adapter, the spring-loaded check valve is lifted to a position that allows the hose nozzle to lock in place. During pressure fueling, the check valve opens only when nozzle fuel pressure is greater than receptacle manifold pressure. For defueling, the check valve is held open by the nozzle after the defuel lever on the refuel receptacle adapter is lifted out of the recess and put in the fully extended position. The outboard receptacle at each fueling station includes a port that connects to a line from the defueling valve located between the receptacles.
