Do a Test of the Float Switches

(1) Make sure that the fuel quantity indicators on the P42 refuel control panel flash.
NOTE: This shows that the VTO override switch is in the ON

Make sure that all of the refuel valve switches on the P42 panel are in the CLOSED position.

Use the fuel sampling receptacle assembly to drain the left wing surge tank (AMM 12-11-03/301).

NOTE: Keep the drain valve open with the fuel sampling receptacle

(9) Remove the fuel sampling receptacle assembly from the sump drain valve.

WARNING:_______THE SURGE TANK CAPACITY IS 125 GALLONS (473 LITERS). IF THERE IS MORE THAN THIS VOLUME FUEL WILL FLOW FROM THE WINGTIP VENT.
(10) Look at the flowmeter and add approximately 27 gallons (102 liters) of fuel to operate the overfill float switch.
NOTE: The REFUEL VALVE IN THE No. 2 reserve fuel tank will close.

This will stop the fuel flow.

(21) Move the No. 2 reserve tank fuel to the No. 2 main tank with the RESERVE 2 & 3 XFER switch.
